Original Press Release:
FKI Logistex Automation Division Launches UniSort(TM) XV
Newest addition to successful UniSort line brings the latest in sliding shoe sortation design to market
(September 10, 2002: Cincinnati, OH) The FKI Logistex (LSE: FKI.L) Automation Division today announced the release of the UniSort(TM) XV, the latest model in its successful line of UniSort sortation products. The UniSort XV offers the latest in sliding shoe sorter design, with operating speeds up to 550 feet per minute (fpm), providing fast, efficient, and accurate sortation for numerous applications.
New Features Lessen Sound Impact, Provide True Cost-Savings
The UniSort XV now features a fully electric solenoid operated divert switch and a fully mechanical center crossover switch (dual-sided sortation). The new all-electric divert and all-mechanical crossover switches replace the compressed air pneumatic switches equipped on the UniSort XV's predecessors, providing quieter, faster, and more reliable operation.
The UniSort XV also features a new extruded aluminum chain rail system, helping to further reduce operating sound levels of the UniSort XV, as compared to its predecessors. A stationary Novex belt pad, located beneath the chain, provides a low-noise, low-friction rolling surface for the precision roller bearing chain, while an oil-infused UHMW strip is used to minimize side drag on the chain. The UniSort XV can also be equipped with optional sound abatement materials to further reduce sound levels, making it one of the quietest sliding shoe sorters available today.
In addition, the new mechanical crossover switch for dual-sided sortation eliminates the need for both compressed air and electric controls. Without the need to purchase and maintain air compression equipment and electronic controls for crossover
switches, the UniSort XV provides true cost savings, as well as a cleaner, more streamlined profile.
Flexibility and Speed for Maximized Throughput
The UniSort XV easily accommodates a wide range of carton sizes and weights, making it the ideal sortation solution for numerous markets including manufacturing, general distribution, grocery, e-commerce, and mail order fulfillment. With diversion angles of 20 and 30 degrees and the ability to gently sort products weighing as little as 8 ounces up to 100 pounds, the UniSort XV provides positive product sortation at 200+ cartons per minute. The UniSort XV can handle left, right, dual-sided, and
custom diversion configurations.
Available in three standard widths - 22", 28", and 34" - the UniSort XV can be custom-manufactured to individual specifications. Carefully engineered to optimize space usage and maximize system throughput while minimizing maintenance and
noise levels, the UniSort XV's flexible design enables it to integrate fully with the extensive line of FKI Logistex ancillary sortation equipment, allowing for an unlimited number of sortation system configurations.
