Somos Among Material Providers Introducing New Products at 3DSUG Conference

The 2007 Conference: 3DSUG was established in 1998 to encourage and coordinate the technical information exchange between owners and operators of 3D Systems rapid prototyping equipment. With such a large concentration of stereolithography (SL) equipment users, it has become the conference resin suppliers have chosen to introduce new resin products to the RP industry. This years' conference was held March 18-22, 2007 in Daytona Beach, Florida. New Product Highlights: 1. DSM Somos® introduced DMX-SLT 100: A resin unlike any other on the marketplace today. It produces parts with the accuracy of SL but with the durability of sintered nylon and is therefore aimed at direct manufacturing as well as rapid prototyping. This resin is based on a unique technology that took years of research to develop, resulting parts have the stiffness of ABS and the impact strength of polypropylene. The product is commercially available through select service bureaus. Other products introduced were WaterClear® Ultra 100, a completely colorless, ABS-like SL resin and ProtoCastT AF 19120 an antimony free resin aimed at the investment casting industry. 2. 3D Systems introduced Accura® 55: a new white material that simulates the look and feel of molded ABS. Delivering the required accuracy for functional prototypes and master patterns as well as the durability for functional assembly tests. 3. Huntsman Advanced Materials introduced RenShape®7810: a new white material that also simulates the look and feel of molded ABS but is intended for use with HeCad laser systems. 4. SLA Materials introduced Hi-REZZ ICE: a slightly blue-tinted, clear, general purpose resin that simulates ABS, in addition they introduced several other products including those intended for medical applications and those aimed at high strength/high temperature applications. All products are currently in alpha testing and are expected to be commercially available by year end. About The 3DSUG Conference: The 3DSUG conference is the premier and only independent forum catering to users of Stereolithiography, Selective Laser Sintering and the 3D Systems 3D printing equipment. This annual global Conference with attendees from Asia, Europe and the USA is "For the Users by the Users" and is packed with high quality presentations and hands on training. The focus is to educate the beginner thru the advanced user plus provide "networking" opportunities. Europe@dsmsomos.info About 3D Systems Corporation: 3D Systems is a leading provider of Rapid 3-D Modeling, Prototyping and Manufacturing solutions. Its systems and materials reduce the time and cost of designing products and facilitate direct and indirect manufacturing by creating actual parts directly from digital input. These solutions are used for design communication and prototyping as well as for production of functional end-use parts. About Huntsman Advanced Materials: Huntsman Advanced Materials is a leading global supplier of advanced high performance materials for design, prototyping and manufacturing. With recognized expertise in research, development and processes Huntsman offers a unique and wide range of innovative solutions, combined with strong technical support and customer service in adhesives, tooling materials and composite resins. About SLA Materials: SLA Materials was formed in 2004 to develop and bring to market products and services that address the needs of the stereolithography apparatus user community. Our founders bring over 50 years of product development, rapid prototyping and manufacturing experience to you. As a long time end user of SLA equipment, our founders have experienced the issues first hand that have made it difficult to be competitive in business as a rapid prototyping and short run service house. High prices on consumables, unreliable lasers, poor equipment design, vendor apathy, and inadequate or non-existent warranties on all consumables have contributed towards a pent up demand for better solutions with the sole purpose of lowering your total cost of ownership. The savings, increased product reliability and written policies on product use and warranties equates to a direct increase in your bottom line profitability on rapid prototyping regardless of whether you are a service provider or OEM with in-house capabilities in stereolithography.
