SiliconSystems Announces New SiliconDrive II Blade SSDs

SD, MMC and SATA Interfaces Supported in Innovative SiliconDrive II Blade Form Factor for Enterprise System OEM Applications

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 14 /-- SiliconSystems, Inc., a world leader in advanced storage technology and inventor of the SiliconDrive II Blade form factor, today announced the company is developing Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC) and Serial ATA (SATA) interfaced SiliconDrive II Blade product families to address the growing market demand for solid-state drives (SSDs) in this new innovative form factor. SiliconDrive II Blade is a highly flexible advanced solid-state storage solution in a new ultra-small form factor designed specifically to meet the requirements of Enterprise System OEMs. SiliconDrive II Blade products are superior high performance, high reliability and multi-year product lifecycle storage solutions for OEM storage applications.

SiliconDrive II Blade is based upon SiliconSystems next-generation storage platform that offers faster read/write speeds and enhanced performance and reliability to address critical OEM design considerations such as storage system endurance, elimination of drive corruption and the ability to forecast useable life.

SiliconSystems developed its SiliconDrive II Blade product families to provide greater design flexibility to OEMs seeking to use the Universal Serial Bus (USB), SD, MMC or SATA interfaces, that were originally developed for consumer desktop and mobile applications, in rigorous Enterprise System OEM applications in the netcom, industrial, embedded computing, data center, military and medical markets.

"As a leading innovator of advanced storage technology delivering proven platforms that overcome design challenges for Enterprise System OEM applications, SiliconSystems clearly saw the market need for a smaller, more rugged SSD form factor that could accommodate a broad range of storage interfaces," said Gary Drossel, vice president of product planning at SiliconSystems. "The rapid and wide-spread adoption of our SiliconDrive II USB Blade product led us to move quickly to develop additional SiliconDrive II Blade products featuring a variety of industry-standard storage interfaces."

SiliconDrive II USB Blade products are shipping now in capacities up to 4 gigabytes (GB). SiliconDrive II Blade products featuring the SD, MMC and SATA interfaces will be available for volume shipment in the first quarter of 2009.
