Enhancements Deliver Lower Total Cost of Ownership; Helps Companies Meet Regulatory Compliance Goals

Charlottesville, VA, June 24, 2008 GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, today announced the availability of Version 5.8 of its award-winning Proficy(TM) Change Management solution. The upgrade provides customers with features that deliver lower total cost of ownership by tracking changes to critical assets. The web-based features of the software make the Change Management client easy to install, deploy and to maintain.

"In many of today's manufacturing and infrastructure businesses, regulatory compliance is becoming more of a factor," said Gimmi Filice, GE Fanuc's Product Manager for Change Management. "Meeting these requirements can prove challenging and costly. Proficy Change Management is a powerful solution for tracking changes to critical control and software assets, providing some of the key elements required to meet today's security and change control requirements."

Powerful capabilities including security, version management audit trails, central storage and automated backup and recovery, ensures that Proficy Change Management can help companies keep their automation systems running safely and efficiently.

Proficy Change Management is an important component of GE Fanuc's Proficy software family. It helps users meet compliance requirements, while also helping improve processes and key uptime metrics.

Proficy Change Management 5.8 includes:

o New Web Based End User Client

The new HTML based client is a thin easy to deploy client with a small footprint that will save users time and effort installing or updating the clients. It also provides easy access to projects on the Change Management server. The client provides access to common end user functions such as check out, check in, open, version reports, compare and more. The new Drag and Drop configuration allows users to easily create a user interface to organize projects and provide customized web interface.

o New Scheduler interface and engine

The Scheduler allows users to automate popular operations for backup and compare functions, which provide the ability to ensure the integrity of automation systems. The scheduler provides the capability to ensure the correct program or configuration is running in an HMI/SCADA application or PLC by comparing the running system to a master version.

o Schneider ProWORX 32 support

This new module allows users to manage and control changes to projects providing the standard version control, check out, check in, and auditing of changes, as well as manual and scheduled compare between versions or the PLC.

"Proficy Change Management is a real asset in helping control costs," continued Filice. "By keeping maintenance to a minimum, companies can see a real benefit to their bottom lines."
