IFS Takes Lead in User Productivity with Announcement of IFS Applications(TM) 7

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Sept. 19 /-- Opening IFS World Conference 2005, IFS CEO Michael Hallen announced today the seventh generation of the company's component-based application suite, IFS Applications(TM) 7. The new release provides companies with new levels of user productivity to improve their bottom line.

IFS Applications 7 brings industry focus and productivity to the next level by including innovations in application design, graphical user interaction, and information visualization. Based on IFS Service-Oriented Component Architecture(TM), IFS Applications 7 offers increased flexibility, enabling companies to continuously revise and improve processes as well as reshape applications as processes change.

"Our customers and several industry analysts, such as AMR and Gartner, have said that one of the biggest success factors for any enterprise application project is the sheer usability of the application by its customers-the end users of the application," Hallen told the more than 1,200 customers and partners attending the conference, which continues through tomorrow in Gothenburg, Sweden. "One new application in the IFS Applications 7 suite, MaxOEE(TM) (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), clearly demonstrates our leading edge in user productivity as well as how that usability directly impacts a company's bottom line. It also includes the vertical industry depth needed to provide effective business applications."

IFS Applications(TM) 7 continues to support the growing number of project-driven enterprises and their need for efficient processes by introducing a broad range of new capabilities, such as contract lifecycle management, project-driven manufacturing, and project supply chain management.

"With the growing variety and uniqueness of market opportunities, more and more companies find greater ROI when their core businesses are managed in the form of projects," Hallen said. "The project economy and project enterprise require a level of application integration that IFS supports in every stage of a project's lifecycle, including after-market services, an area in which today's companies are finding increased revenues and profits."

To help companies reduce the increasing complexity of global supply chains and to increase customer responsiveness while maintaining cost efficiency, IFS Applications 7 also includes new solutions for supply chain management (SCM) planning and collaboration in demand and supply networks.

Supporting the company's focus on seven key vertical industries, IFS also announced a number of new vertical market solutions, including workforce planning and call center management within the service and facilities management industry.

Reinforcing the company's position as the vendor committed to standards and technology co-existence, IFS Applications 7 includes support for the latest J2EE(TM) and .NET technologies, such as IBM(R) WebSphere(R) 6, Oracle(R) AS 10g, and JBoss(R) 4.0. The Java(TM) portal standard (JSR 168) is also supported, allowing companies to access and use IFS Applications directly from within IBM WebSphere Portal.
