Integrated Informatics System Supports Advanced Chemistry R&D Workflows

METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem recently announced the formation of an Applied Informatics Business Area and introduced VirtualLab(TM), an integrated informatics platform that provides a powerful and extensible solution for workflow automation, instrument integration, and electronic laboratory notebook functionality. VirtualLab has been specifically designed to enable pharmaceutical and chemical businesses to reduce R&D costs, increase the speed of new product development, share information across the enterprise, and improve the productivity of researchers.

The VirtualLab product provides the researcher the ability to integrate and automate information-rich R&D workflows and to assemble all the elements of the experimental process into a single software environment. The software facilitates experimental design, execution, and analysis in a way very similar to a researcher's natural manner of working. Common information need only be entered once, complex unit conversions are performed automatically, and design parameters are easily applied to generate multiple experiments as needed. VirtualLab then collects and integrates process and analytical data from multiple lab instruments as well as traditional bench chemistry activities. The resulting data are presented for analysis in a user-friendly manner and stored in a structured, portable, and searchable format. These activities are all performed within a secure environment with a rich set of features to support compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and other regulatory requirements.
