HighDeal Enables Telecom and E-Services Execs to Easily Simulate, Validate, and Implement Flexible Price Plans

New Software Release Offers Powerful and Intuitive GUI, Convergent Payment Options, and Legacy Extension for Dynamic Pricing and Rating

REDWOOD SHORES, CA - January 8, 2002 - HighDeal, Inc., a leading provider of dynamic pricing software for telecommunications, content and online services, today announced the release of HighDeal Software Suite 2.0, a powerful new version of its strategic pricing, rating, and billing tools for convergent services. This new version offers the front-end simplicity and behind-the-scenes power that marketing and finance executives need to easily create and drive the implementation of compelling new offers.

"Convergence is happening on many levels. For example, you have converging markets and their services, driving the demand for convergent pricing and payment. The need for hands-on management involvement in pricing strategies has never been so critical," says Jason C. Briggs, senior analyst, Billing and Payment Application Strategies at The Yankee Group. "By providing management with an intuitive tool that offers both powerful modeling and real-time implementation of price plans, HighDeal helps companies be more competitive while ensuring the profitability of their services."

HighDeal Software Suite 2.0's new features include an advanced graphical user interface (GUI) that is simple to use, the addition of convergent payment options (i.e. prepaid and postpaid), and a connectivity framework that will extend legacy systems with HighDeal's flexible pricing and rating engine so they can bill for value-based services with dynamic pricing.

Powerful New GUI, Simple to Use
HighDeal Software Suite 2.0 delivers carrier-class performance, while optimizing ease of use for price plan development. It features powerful object components (i.e. mathematical equations and algorithms that determine pricing) that are driven with a simple graphical user interface to enable telecommunications and online services executives to easily create, simulate, and validate the profitability of price plans, as well as, implement and invoice for them in real time. This is accomplished through seamless integration between pricing, rating, and billing modules.

New features include a common platform for price plan generation-and a common pricing language across departments-by presenting price plans in a graphical format that IT, marketing, finance, and sales all can understand. The new GUI also includes increased security due to the implementation of additional roles with associated privileges. Additionally, the simulator can combine real customer data from the billing engine with virtual profiles for realistic profitability analyses and enhanced earnings visibility.

Convergent Pricing and Payment for Multiple Services
HighDeal Software Suite 2.0 is designed for the converging services of telecommunications (i.e., voice, mobile, IP, and value-added services), digital content (i.e., audio and video), and application services (i.e., xSP). The new version enables convergent payment options-prepaid or postpaid. This unique "reverse rating" capability extends prepayment to content and online services for the pricing of service packages that comprise usage, access, games, music, and subscription software. This enables service providers to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty by inventing product bundles that link services together in terms of pricing.

"In fact, a marketing director can use HighDeal's intuitive GUI to create a friends and family package for mobile services subscribers that combines prepaid services for your teenager and
postpaid services for yourself," says Serge Soudoplatoff, chief strategy officer, HighDeal.

Add-On to Legacy Billing
In addition, HighDeal Software Suite 2.0 allows customers to choose between the complete implementation of the product or to extend their existing OSS/BSS (operational support system/business support system) by integrating HighDeal Software Suite's pricing and rating modules. HighDeal Software Suite is a lightweight Java application with a new connectivity framework that facilitates integration with existing billing systems. This allows service providers to extend their less flexible legacy systems with HighDeal's pricing and rating module in order to bill for convergent services with usage- and value-based pricing models. This add-on extension to legacy billing systems lowers the risk of total replacement, leverages investments and lowers costs, while speeding time to market with new service packages.

HighDeal Software Suite 2.0 Available Today

HighDeal Software Suite 2.0 is jdbc compliant and compatible with virtually all databases, including Informix, Oracle, PostGreSql, and SQL Server. The communication protocol is universal, including XML over HTTP or HTTPS, and SOAP compliant. This graphical, logical (decision tree) approach to price plan development enables precise pricing versus the multiple and often conflicting assumptions of rules-based billing systems. Plus, a built in price plan validator graphically highlights errors in price plan logic, thereby guaranteeing error-free rating. HighDeal Software Suite 2.0 is multi-platform, operating on Java Virtual Machines (JVMs), including HP-UX, IBM AIX, Linux, SunOS, Windows 2000, and Windows NT.

HighDeal Software Suite 2.0 is priced to scale with a service provider's growth-either per-user or per-transaction depending upon the business model (B2C or B2B). The product is available today from HighDeal. In North America, contact HighDeal via telephone at (650) 620-9970 ext. 107 or via email at sales.us@highdeal.com.
