Original Press Release:

Syncsort's New Release of DMExpress Speeds ETL Processing Performance By Up to 75 Percent

Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, August 15, 2005 - The newest version of DMExpress from Syncsort Incorporated provides unparalleled data transformation solutions for companies with burgeoning data volumes. Its powerful but easy-to-use new features minimize the elapsed time of applications and the computer resources needed to run those applications, which allows users to leverage existing hardware investments.

DMExpress 2.0 represents the latest in data transformation technology, including significant performance enhancements, a graphical job editor that shows data lineage, user-defined and run-time variables and support for ACUCOBOL-GT, which simplifies legacy migration. The high- performance product for UNIX, Linux and Windows environments minimizes the elapsed time of many data-intensive applications by integrating patented performance algorithms, state-of-the-art parallel processing technology, and dynamic optimization. It also optimizes processing performance by exploiting the architecture and using the best I/O method available. This reduces CPU, memory and disk resource usage, allowing applications to be deployed on significantly smaller hardware systems, in turn lowering hardware costs considerably.

The new DMExpress release makes application development faster and easier with an enhanced Graphical User Interface (GUI) that reduces the time needed to deploy applications, eliminates data duplication and requires less staff than other methods.

Several users have reported successful results with their use of the product. AC Nielsen has been using DMExpress in production for over a year. According to Technical Director Michael Benillouch, "When we started developing our data factory application, called New Factory, we knew that performance was going to be an issue. We searched for a solution that could handle the high volume of data we were processing in the shortest amount of time. After considering ETL software from major vendors, we selected DMExpress. The product easily integrated into New Factory's distributed computing framework and provided us with the outstanding results we needed."

GALOSI CIO Joaquin Lopez is equally as satisfied with the product's performance. "DMExpress completed the processing of the large files that I deal with in a very short amount of time. Compared with just using Microsoft SQL 2000, DMExpress is approximately three to four times faster," said Lopez.

"Companies faced with increasing data volumes must find cutting edge technologies that minimize elapsed time faster and easier," said Dan Regan, Syncsort's Executive Vice President. "The latest version of DMExpress speeds processes like ETL, staging data for a data warehouse and database loading by up to 75 percent."
