MSC.Software Announces Release of SimDesigner Suspension

New Vertical Application Gives CATIA Users Access to Automotive Suspension Simulation Technology from ADAMS/Car

SANTA ANA, Calif. - September 10, 2003 - MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE: MNS), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) products including simulation software and services today announced the release of SimDesigner Suspension. SimDesigner Suspension is a vertical CATIA V5 module that will allow ADAMS/Car-based dynamic motion simulation to be performed on CATIA V5 suspension assemblies. By simulating the dynamic motion of the assemblies, engineers will be able to view animations and XY plots of resulting motion and make design changes quickly without having to spend excess time and money building and testing physical prototypes of suspension systems.

The SimDesigner product line, formerly the MSC.Dynamic Designer and MSC.visualNastran V5i product lines, tests how mechanisms functions before they are built, saving manufacturers time and money during the design and testing process. Through the Gold Software Partner Agreement between Dassault Systemes and MSC.Software and the open CAA V5 development architecture, the SimDesigner user interface is a seamless extension of CATIA V5.

The SimDesigner Suspension product complements the existing CATIA-related SimDesigner product line, allowing testing of mechanism functions before they are built, saving manufacturers time and money during the design and testing process.

Features of SimDesigner Suspension include:

A bi-directional interface with ADAMS/Car, which facilitates better communication between designers and analysts. Since both groups use the same suspension data, there are fewer sources of error related to data entry or translation. This yields a more streamlined process for suspension design and analysis.

Support of Standard User and Expert User modes. This capability allows companies to manage the creation and delivery of new suspension designs and standardize their usage across the organization

Customizable events and post processing, which allows companies to capture and deploy their unique processes for suspension design and analysis

Support for compliant suspension analysis - This capability eliminates several manual steps that were previously required to perform such analyses. Furthermore, the results are more realistic than analyses that do not take suspension compliance into account.
