Better Mesh Building with ESI Group's New Version of CFD-Cadalyzer, Heat and Flow Transfer Simulation Software

Chicago, March 28, 2006

ESI Group has released the 2006 version of CFD-CADalyzer, the perfect tool for both CAD engineers and CFD analysts to perform design-level analysis for various industries with a simple, intuitive simulation interface. A complete package in itself with built-in pre- and post-processors, it simulates heat and flow transfer and allows the comparison of results over a range of varying geometries and operational conditions. This version includes a new "intelligent" boundary-layer meshing sequence that suppresses tiny features to build a better quality mesh foundation for complex geometry problems during pre-processing.

The software's design environment easily integrates into the leading CAD packages such as SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, Inventor, Solid Edge, and Mechanical Desktop. Users can choose the same mouse behavior and color schemes as their favorite CAD packages, making the entire process more manageable, thus reducing design time. The software eliminates the pitfalls associated with translation between different geometry representations, which also reduces design time and ultimately leads to faster time to market and improved product quality.

"CFD-CADalyzer 2006 is an excellent analytical tool in our product development process," says Kedar Sangam, a member of the technical staff at Applied Materials, in Santa Clara, Calif. "[The software] has a major impact on our pre-processing time as it gives a first-order estimate in a matter of minutes. It takes only about one-fourth of the time as the other pre-processors we have in our facility. CADalyzer quickly eliminates surprises and takes care of all the practical issues in geometry and meshing."

After CADalyzer is integrated, mathematical functions can be used as input for boundary condition values in addition to the structural and deformation modeling capabilities of CFD-ACE+, an ESI Group software package available separately. Users can visualize their post-processing results quickly with a one-button-click animation feature. Other new features for this version include a strip chart, carpet plot, and a larger memory capacity of 3 GB.

About ESI Group:
ESI Group is a world-leading supplier and pioneer of digital simulation software for prototyping and manufacturing processes that take into account the physics of materials. Its extensive suite of coherent, industry-oriented applications realistically simulate a product's behavior during testing to fine-tune manufacturing processes for desired product performance and evaluate the environment's impact on it. The products have a proven track record in manufacturing and represent a virtual engineering solution known as the Virtual Try-Out Space (VTOS), enabling virtual prototypes to be improved in a continuous and collaborative manner. This allows the company's solutions to work together and with other independently developed applications. By reducing costs and development lead times and enabling product/process synergies, VTOS solutions offer a competitive advantage by lessening the need for physical prototypes during product development. The company employs almost 500 high-level specialists worldwide covering more than 30 countries.
