Brooks Software Unveils AutoMod Version 12.0
Brooks' Simulation Suite Enables Easier, More Accurate Modeling and Analysis of Complex Discrete Manufacturing Processes
CHELMSFORD, Mass. - Sept. 6, 2005 - Brooks Software, a division of Brooks Automation, Inc. (NASDAQ: BRKS), and a leading provider of real-time enterprise applications for discrete manufacturing environments, today announced the availability of AutoMod(R) version 12.0, the newest version of Brooks' 3-D simulation software for discrete manufacturing, warehousing and material handling applications. AutoMod allows companies to simulate complex processes in virtual reality, enabling the analysis that helps to improve system optimization. Based on input from current AutoMod customers, Brooks added new features to the latest version to enable more realistic modeling, greater accuracy and reliability, and faster deployment. AutoMod 12.0 is currently being evaluated by several leading manufacturers and is already being used by a large North American aerospace company to model a secure baggage handling facility at an air freight terminal.

AutoMod 12.0 adds several new features, including segmented vehicles that give a more realistic look and feel to simulations for material handling applications such as airport baggage, cart delivery and other types of train vehicle systems. Modeling long vehicles is also made more accurate through the addition of multiple path attach points, which cause vehicles to track around curves more realistically. AutoMod 12.0 adds container objects for modeling the stacking of loads in three-dimensional queues and vehicles. Additional modeling accuracy is obtained through new features such as rigid/loose alignments for overhead and vertical paths and fixed interval spacing.
