Komo Announces General Availability of Router-CIM 2004



Tuesday, August 5, 2003, Sauk Rapids, Minnesota - Komo Machine, Inc. via CIM-Tech, the software department of Komo, announces the release and general availability of Router-CIM 2004. Router-CIM 2004 software allows an operator to design parts directly, or receive industry-standard CAD drawings from design software packages and distribute the drawings through the Router-CIM component to create machine production information. The first of two key Industry-leading features of Router-CIM 2004 is push-button functionality to make the programming of CNC routers as simple as possible for operators. The second incomparable feature is the highly-sophisticated and interactive "learning" capabilities that make repeated programming easier, enables optimization of job estimating by calculating the number of tools and machining cycles required for pending jobs and tracking tool life, material and labor use, and job payback information.

Enhancements to the 2004 product include Avery Label Pro® labeling system, built in scrap management software, automatic backside programming, true-shape nesting and the ability to accept data from all industry standard software, including Access databases, Excel spreadsheets and cabinet design software packages. Router-CIM 2004 is included with every Komo router.

Router-CIM 2004 has features that are definitively state-of-the art and unmatched by any other software in the industry. Programmers can take advantage of "push-button" features which include visual-cutting cycles that show three-dimensional modeling of each cutting operation, the cutting of NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) surfaces, ellipses and splines inside AutoCAD and a "do it" command that simplifies manufacturing to just one click.

Router-CIM software is designed to "learn" by building a knowledge base of a company's machine and typical programming preferences. For example, when an operator makes changes to a drawing, the Router-CIM tool paths update automatically, right in the AutoCAD drawing. This both eliminates the operator having to do double work and make changes in AutoCAD as well as the operator's system, it makes each subsequent job easier.
