CEI Releases EnSight and EnSight Gold 7.6 with 100 New Features, Higher Performance

APEX, N.C., June 20, 2003 - CEI has released version 7.6 of EnSight and EnSight Gold, with 100 new features, higher-performance algorithms, and user interface upgrades for greater control and automation. EnSight and EnSight Gold are software for visualizing, analyzing and communicating computational results for automotive, aerospace, chemical and scientific visualization problems.

The new features, increased performance, and greater ease-of-use are the result of six months of internal and beta testing, according to Kent Misegades, CEI's president.

"This release consolidates a huge number of features requested by our customers over the past year," says Misegades. "It's all about being able to do a whole lot more in less time and with less hassle."

Among the most important of the 100 new features in EnSight and EnSight Gold 7.6 include:
o easy adjustments to reduce polygon counts for faster rendering;
o pop-up controls for rotational visual symmetry with little loss of rendering speed;
o collaboration features for up to eight participants in both EnSight and EnSight Gold;
o 3D arrowheads, offset parts, and labeling of contour values for better display of complex problems;
o 1D texture coloring for greater speed and accuracy;
o smoother animation through keyframe timeline, acceleration and spline controls;
o dynamic hidden lines; and
o optimizations and an Intel compiler that generate up to four times faster performance on Windows versions.

Other improvements in EnSight 7.6 are designed to automate the program and make it easier to use and control. These include:
o new default settings that help users do the right thing the first time;
o undo/redo and autorecovery functions;
o better scripting through parameters in the command language;
o and user-defined API that enables users to write code for custom EnSight output.

EnSight and EnSight Gold now include user-defined readers for HDF5, an important NCSA and DOE format for large-scale scientific applications, and netCDF, an environmental application from the University of Wisconsin. Version 7.6 also supports the HP Space Mouse and Space Ball 3D input devices.

EnSight and EnSight Gold 7.6 are available immediately through CEI and its worldwide distributors. Free evaluations are available on the CEI web site (www.ensight.com) to those who qualify, along with a complete display of new features.

CEI offers a complete suite of tools for engineering and scientific visualization, from meshing to plotting to animations that can be run on the most advanced VR displays. The company has corporate headquarters in Apex, N.C., and authorized distributors around the world. In addition to EnSight and related products, CEI provides consulting services to engineers and scientists from organizations that need to visualize computational results for research, product design or product refinement.
