Digital Defense Simplifies Risk Management with New Automated Vulnerability Assessment Service

Frontline 3.0 Offers Comprehensive and Immediate Threat Detection as an Affordable, Subscription-based Service

San Antonio, TX - October 12, 2004 - Digital Defense, Inc., a leading provider of automated vulnerability management services, today announced the release of its new flagship offering, Frontline 3.0(TM). With this release, subscription clients can run unlimited internal and external vulnerability assessment scans at any time, allowing for immediate vulnerability identification and reconciliation. Frontline 3.0 includes a security management portal that provides its clients with immediate access to vulnerability management tools, an array of reports and the power to self-schedule internal and external vulnerability assessments that include analysis of threats impacting specific markets.

"Digital Defense firmly believes that security, and vulnerability management in particular, should be treated as a business process rather than a project-based IT function," said Joseph A. Cooper, Chairman and CEO of Digital Defense. "However, traditional vulnerability assessment solutions do not allow businesses to test for vulnerabilities on an ongoing basis because they are typically cumbersome, disruptive and expensive, many requiring large capital expenditures from software purchases, upgrades and integration fees. Digital Defense addresses these obstacles with the development of Frontline 3.0 to allow our customers to manage security on an ongoing basis as they would any other critical business process."

Frontline 3.0 includes a unique and intuitive workflow management and reconciling tool that allows customers to assess their network security posture and track their security progress over time. With the new Active View(TM) feature, clients can assess their entire network and tailor testing based on recent installations or configuration changes. Frontline also provides analysis data on the integrity of the network, helping clients meet their regulatory compliance needs.

The flexibility of Frontline 3.0 extends beyond scheduling. If a new vulnerability is published that only affects a certain operating system, clients can run an assessment on those particular machines through this new interface.

"Not only is Frontline effective at identifying our network weaknesses, but it also serves as a critical communication tool between our information technology department and our executive management team," said Jerry Thompson, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at the Credit Union of Texas. "Being able to report to my CEO and board of directors on our overall network security posture, at anytime, from anywhere, makes this tool truly invaluable."

With this release, Digital Defense will now be providing all of its remote services over its newly developed Network Security Awareness System (NSAS), the underlying platform that supports the Frontline system. This NSAS technology gives Digital Defense the ability to identify vulnerabilities found on platforms that are unique to specific market verticals, such as the core processing platforms that support financial services transactions, as well as the power to provide an ever-broadening array of network security services to its clients.
