Companies to Provide Wireless Access to Fleet Routing Applications from Leading Vendors
Atlanta, Georgia and Montreal, Quebec (March 10, 2005): GEOCOMtms, a global provider of Fleet Optimization and Territory Design solutions, and Imagina, a leading provider of e-business solutions, announced today plans to deliver the next generation of mobile functionality for fleet management applications, including GEOCOMtms' A.MAZE suite, as well as routing and scheduling systems from other vendors.
A.MAZE is designed to help shippers, couriers, and carriers improve the efficiency of local pickup and delivery operations. The mobile extension will enable drivers and dispatchers to communicate in real-time concerning issues like order status, traffic conditions, or estimated time of delivery. Based on driver input, A.MAZE will modify trips on the fly, enabling companies to respond more effectively to incoming customer requests or other dynamic conditions. The solution will be platform independent in order to support multiple communications devices (Nextel(TM), Palm(TM), Pocket PC(TM), RIM(TM) and Symbol(TM) handhelds) and will be capable of delivering information in either text-based format or via a Rich User Interface.
While wireless applications are designed to operate in connected mode, this robust application will also function in disconnected mode, in case drivers are in an area where wireless coverage is not available. And to ensure high user acceptance, the companies are emphasizing ease of use so drivers will be comfortable with the devices.
Other advanced features include:
- automatic management and reporting of planned versus actual route deviations
- the ability to track drivers and locations and confirm deliveries
- intelligent re-optimization of routes based on actual versus planned route comparisons
