PIERS TI® New Release Enables Customized Searches of Import-Export Trade Database

PIERS TI 3.0 provides one interface for bill of lading details on transactions in both directions - plus a vast set of options for precision-control searches, results analysis and report generation.

NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 8 /-- PIERS Global Intelligence Solutions, a UBM Global Trade company, today unveiled the third generation of its industry-leading online trade intelligence product, PIERS TI.

PIERS TI 3.0 provides a single, integrated interface for conducting highly specific targeted searches of the most comprehensive database on U.S. waterborne trade for all imports and exports. With fresh data gathered directly from ship manifests and uploaded daily, the PIERS database is the only online source for bill of lading detail on both import and export transactions. Subscribers can access records online as recent as this week's and as far back as 60 months ago.

PIERS TI 3.0 also introduces new capabilities to review, rearrange, manipulate, and refine search results on-screen before downloading as spreadsheet-compatible files.

PIERS TI's report-creation function has been enhanced. Where the previous generation product offered a menu of report templates, the new generation provides the menu of templates plus a second menu of options to customize the layout and content of the end-product, a report in PDF format. For example, users can group results by a category of their choosing -- commodity or destination -- and order results within each group by a choice of measures.

Users may also opt for at-a-glance visual presentations of their findings. A choice of graphics show top rankings or month-by-month trends for parties to the trade, commodities traded, and markets or sources as measured number of shipments, their estimated values, weights, or TEUs (twenty-foot-equivalent units -- the standard measure for container shipments).

"TI 3.0 leverages best-in-class database design, search, reporting and web technologies, for the superior performance our customers rely on us to maintain," says Lenny Corallo, PIERS President and COO. "Our users don't need and we certainly don't want them to spend time picking through data dumps and fiddling with opaque statistics. Users want timely, detailed information that is on-point when it comes to their strategic business decision-making."

Since its launch in 2004, PIERS TI has been a consistent market leader in providing online access to the latest available U.S. trade data, down to transaction detail -- including names and addresses, detailed cargo descriptions, and estimated value of shipments.

Now, PIERS third-generation TI, with its single interface to U.S. import and export data and expansive set of options for customized database research, redefines and raises the standard for online trade information products.

"We set out to enable our users to customize every aspect of their experience of PIERS TI," explains Corallo, adding that PIERS drew extensively on customer feedback on product functionality at every stage of development.

"We have a unique resource in the PIERS import-export trade database," Corallo says. "Now PIERS TI 3.0 empowers our customers to access, search, retrieve and dissect information from our database on their own terms and in doing so, turns our unique resource into their unique insight into new business opportunities."
