Yokogawa Enhances Its Asset Management Solution "Plant Resource Manager 2.03" Released

Newnan, Georgia - Plant Resource Manager (PRM) is Yokogawa's value-added asset management software that integrates and manages maintenance information from field instruments, monitors online conditions, and records historical data. PRM enables users to remotely access devices that feature field communication capability, such as FOUNDATION Fieldbus and HART-enabled devices, as well as perform centralized management of the parameters of those devices. These functions provide efficient management and maintenance of field devices and computerization of maintenance data that streamlines maintenance operations and may achieve significant cost savings. Information such as the device specific information, parameter settings, inspection records, and instruction manuals are stored in a database that operators can easily access.

Version R2.03 has added the following significant features to its current offering:

Implementation of PLUG-IN application (Helper) software

Helper software programs, referred to as PLUG-IN applications, are authored by field device vendors, and can be plugged into PRM for tuning and self-diagnosis of devices. "ValveNavi" from Yokogawa is supplied as one of PLUG-IN applications to perform valve signatures, calibration, and self-diagnostics results of Yokogawa's FF-H1 model YVP and Dresser Industries Valve Positioner. Another, called "Device Viewer" provides display of the self-diagnostics results of other HART field devices. Many field device vendors including Yokogawa will supply PLUG-IN applications tailored to their specific devices.

Enhanced HART parameter management

Version R2.03 supports the Parameter Comparison window for HART devices and management of HART parameters into an Oracle database. Other enhancements include faster display refresh intervals for HART device statuses and identification of operation in the Burst Mode.

Interface for Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) An interface with MRO's CMMS Software MAXIMO, has been released. This interface supports MRO Software MAXIMO version 4.1.1, and supports off-line device master synchronization, mapping equipment hierarchy to plant hierarchy, the ability to send "Work Orders" from PRM to MAXIMO, and to monitor the Progress of the work order on-line.

The demand for lower total cost of ownership for measurement, automation, and information systems as well as providing optimum operation has driven the development of enhancements to PRM. Current dependence on large maintenance systems has been costly, and the introduction of automatic maintenance can significantly reduce these costs. Utilizing the interactivity of Foundation Fieldbus and/or HART, instruments can now be monitored online and communicated to other entities in the enterprise. . The self-diagnostic functions of field devices provide for prediction of malfunctions which reduce costs by allowing predictive maintenance instead of preventive maintenance.

"We are committed to incorporate the latest leading-edge technologies", says Naoji Nagami, Vice President of YCA's systems division. "PRM is one of the focuses of Yokogawa's development efforts and will be continually upgraded to meet the ever-changing needs of the marketplace. The current enhancements allow our customers to achieve more from their automation systems by supporting increased efficiency in facilities management."
