Honeywell Introduces Offline Simulation Solution For Processing Plants

UniSim Design Improves Plant Performance and Reduces Engineering Costs Throughout the Plant Life Cycle

PHOENIX, July 19, 2005 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced the release of UniSim(tm) Design Suite R350, the latest component of the UniSim family of software and engineering services for plant life cycle support. UniSim Design Suite R350 is based on the latest release of HYSYS® software, marking Honeywell's entry into the offline simulation market. It offers steady-state and dynamic simulation, design, performance monitoring, optimization and business planning for the oil and gas production, gas processing, petroleum refining and chemical industries.

"Simulation is a highly effective and cost-efficient way for process manufacturers to increase plant profitability," said Mark Hagen, director of Honeywell Process Solutions' Advanced Solutions. "With UniSim Design, Honeywell customers can use process knowledge to reap tremendous rewards such as long-term operational safety and stability." The new solution allows process manufacturers to design, test, and train employees on new processes offline before they are implemented. For example, in the early stages of a project engineers can evaluate the impact of their design decisions on how the plant will operate, allowing them to pinpoint potential problems and instabilities and identify appropriate solutions. UniSim Design can also reduce engineering costs by eliminating the need for many error-prone manual processes, such as data-re-entry and data transfer, which account for up to 30 percent of engineering labor hours.

UniSim solution software is built from the most robust simulation technologies available, including HYSYS® modeling software, Shadow Plant® simulation software and the OTISS(tm) process simulator. In addition to UniSim Design Suite R350, the UniSim solution includes:
o The UniSim Operations Suite, which provides highly accurate, multi-function dynamic simulation to improve operating capabilities and enhance staff skills.
o The UniSim Optimization Suite, which ensures responsiveness to changes in business demands through close linkages with planning, scheduling, and management functions.
o The UniSim Dynamic Engineering Studies Group, a dedicated Honeywell service team that evaluates the impact of proposed process-design changes on future plant performance.

The UniSim solution extends the capabilities of Honeywell's Experion(tm) Process Knowledge System (PKS) by improving its ability to gather data throughout the plant, and coupling it with process knowledge embedded in process simulation models. UniSim software is also designed to integrate with Invensys, Siemens, Yokogawa, Emerson and ABB advanced control and operator training systems.
