Version 6.0 of Open Inventor(TM) by Mercury Computer Systems provides enhanced end user experience and application performance for oil & gas, and medical visualization markets

CHELMSFORD, Mass. - May 5, 2006 - Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) announced the introduction of Version 6.0 of Open Inventor(TM) by Mercury Computer Systems, its 3D interactive data visualization software. This newest release includes the Mercury VolumeViz(TM) LDM (large data management), ScaleViz(TM), and MeshViz(TM) extensions, which provide development tools and enable interactive management and display of extremely large data sets, as well as transparent scalability for increased resolution, quality, and application performance. Mercury held a demonstration of this enhanced offering to a captive audience at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) conference in Houston, Texas last month.

Version 6.0 of Open Inventor by Mercury Computer Systems facilitates a new level of functionality and enhancement, including crack-free NURBS (non-uniform rational B-splines), which are a surface element used in CAD modeling, and full OpenGL® support for shaders, which are 3D graphics programs used to determine the final surface properties of an object or image. The complete development suite, which includes VolumeViz LDM and MeshViz, has been enhanced and supplemented with a new ScaleViz extension. Version 6.0 of Open Inventor by Mercury Computer Systems is also available as a .NET API (application programming interface), allowing programmers to access all of its functionality through any of the languages supported by .NET.

Version 6.0 of Open Inventor by Mercury Computer Systems is available for Linux-based systems, including AMD Opteron(TM) 64, and Intel® Xeon® EMT64, Windows® 32 and 64 bit systems, as well as major UNIX platforms.
