Overview

In an on demand world, simply integrating applications and business processes within your enterprise isn't enough. You need to connect your enterprise with other enterprises, other business processes, other applications, and a multitude of pervasive computing devices. The problem is, your current proprietary system won't allow you to integrate, and you can't afford to rip out your existing data, applications, and transaction systems and replace them with new, heterogeneous ones. The solution - open standards which allows you to connect and integrate your information technologies to create a flexible, more modular environment built to handle the on demand world.

IBM has invested millions of dollars in connection with key open source projects and has championed efforts to bring open and industry standards into the enterprise. Our commitment is clearly evident with technologies such as Linux, Java(TM), and XML offered across our product lines. We continue to expand our support for open standards with the introduction of our latest technology, a cornerstone for building an on demand operating environment, IBM Grid Toolbox V3 for Multiplatforms.

IBM's evolutionary new product, IBM Grid Toolbox V3 for Multiplatforms, based on the Globus Toolkit V3.0 and the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA), provides building blocks needed to enable the rapid deployment and integration of business applications and processes in a grid. IBM Grid Toolbox V3 is an implementation of the Globus Toolkit V3.0 which is based on the Open Grid Services Infrastructure (OGSI) specification standard as published by the Global Grid Forum. As these open grid standards evolve and the Globus Toolkit matures, IBM Grid Toolbox is expected to keep pace to include accepted and standardized development code.

The power of IBM Grid Toolbox V3 is that it delivers some of the key infrastructure needed to develop, deploy, and manage distributed business workloads by providing an integrated run-time environment, integrated IBM middleware, and an IBM data management solution that have been tested on the applicable IBM servers. In addition, IBM Grid Toolbox V3 includes enhanced implementation samples and comprehensive technical documentation. IBM Grid Toolbox V3 delivers a solid foundation to build an e-business enterprise.

Previews provide insight into IBM plans and direction, but are not a commitment of future functionality. Availability, prices, ordering information, and terms and conditions will be provided when and if the product is announced.
