Yokogawa Enhances its Alarm Event Analysis Package: Exaplog R3.01. Released

Newnan, Georgia - Yokogawa announces the release of its new Exaplog R3.01 version of its Alarm Event analysis software package. This software tool provided by Yokogawa Electric Corporation categorizes event logs acquired from DCS systems in terms of Process Requests (alarms, annunciators, etc.) and Operator's Actions (setting values changing modes, etc.). By observing the balance of these alarms and events in a graphics manner, operation-related problems can be quantitatively clarified.

The Exaplog Event Analysis Package gathers the historical events from a process control system, saves the historical information in its own database, and provides analytical functions. These functions include an Event Balance Trend (EBT) Graph, which displays the balance between "process requests volume" and "operator work volume", a 3W ("When, What, Where") Filter, which extracts events occurring at problem areas, a Message Summary Window, which displays the time of an event, its type, and detail of time order of event occurrences, and a Category Sort Window, which sorts events by type (such as alarm notification or recovery) and displays the results in pie charts and tables. Event IDs, such as tag names, can be sorted and displayed in numerical order of the number of event occurrences and an Event Data Filter provides for display of only a selected event or can zoom in on a selected time span.

The graphical interface allows the user to isolate the problem on the graph, isolate a problematic tag or set of tags, determine the reason for excessive actions, and determine the problem frequency - that is, does it occurs each day or during a certain time period? By this method, Exaplog helps eliminate unnecessary alarms, improves inefficient operation sequences, and thus improves the production process.

The new release provides for Exaplog to be available in three separately priced versions for cost effectiveness depending on the user's needs:

1 Exaplog Professional (connectable to 8 separate systems within a site)
2 Exaplog Standard (connectable to a single system)
3 Exaplog for HIS (connectable to a single operator console within a system limited and to a weeks worth of saved events)

New Features for release R3.01 include:
o Support for both Windows XP and Windows 2000
The new release provides Exaplog functionality on either Windows Operating system on a general purpose PC.
o Connection to Process Automation systems
In addition to connectivity to Yokogawa Process Control systems of CENTUM CS 1000/3000, and legacy systems of uXL and CENTUM XL, Exaplog can connect to other suppliers systems.
o Connection to Yokogawa's Plant information management system, Exaquantum, in order to read and analyze data online or offline.
o New Selectable Event Data Filtering
Additional alarm modes can be isolated and events can be selected by alarm priority level.
o Process Unit Filtering
Events can be displayed and analyzed associated with specific process units, equipment mcdules or tags
o Enhanced ID Scope-in Filtering
Searching functions have been enhanced to help select on previously saved focused filters while analyzing other windows.

The newly released version provides additional ease of use and features that help users identify sources of problems with their instruments and systems to improve operation, and thus, their production process.
