LaserFiche® Releases Web Access, Business-Savvy Solution for Multiple Offices

Long Beach, Calif.---LaserFiche Document Imaging has released Web Access, a browser-based, truly thin client able to read and modify a LaserFiche database. Hundreds or thousands of co-workers can now safely share mission-critical information while conserving limited IT resources.

With a single server installation, Web Access is instantly distributed across multiple sites to users for high-volume processing. Working with a familiar folder structure, users are able to retrieve and organize digital documents within seconds of deployment. IT staff is free to tackle more pressing issues, an important factor when considering today's scaled-back technology budgets.

"Maintaining and upgrading thick client applications can be an IT nightmare, especially when users are scattered throughout an enterprise," said Nien-Ling Wacker, LaserFiche president and CEO. "The one-time deployment and fast distribution of Web Access is consistent with our company goal of simplifying the administrator's job, while making business-essential information more readily available to those who need it most."

Using Dynamic HTML and JavaScript, Web Access creates a sophisticated interface without requiring the use of Active X controls. This provides strong security by protecting documents behind an organization's firewall, denying unauthorized access to the network.

The new product is the latest addition to LaserFiche United, a suite of document management solutions designed to give organization's enterprise wide access to stored information. Using the industry-standard Microsoft SQL platform, LaserFiche United has gained strong market acceptance since its introduction less than a year ago, with nearly 1,300 installations worldwide.

Web Access allows read-write privileges allowing users to modify databases, but because it uses advanced features including modal dialogs and pop-up windows, it does not permit instant web publishing.

LaserFiche (www.laserfiche.com) is a division of Compulink Management Center, Inc. in Long Beach, CA. Since 1987, LaserFiche has been helping manage documents in over 18,000 government agencies, schools, law offices, financial services companies and other businesses worldwide. LaserFiche has created a $150 million industry via its partnership with the reseller channel.
