McLaren's kTransmit Offers Controlled Document Distribution Across Company Boundaries

New solution improves project collaboration and reduces costs

Engineering and Construction projects are becoming increasingly more complex, with global projects being handled by multiple internal departments and third party organizations in order to deliver a project on time.

Administrating the collation, tracking and approval of such disparate information often present businesses with a logistical nightmare, so it is vital that a document management system is implemented that allows organizations to monitor project developments at all stages.

The key questions that need to be answered at any stage in a project are:

o Which document has X been sent?
o When was the document sent?
o How long is the feedback process?
o Has the document been approved?

McLaren's kTransmit(tm) provides project controllers with a configurable 'out-of-the-box' software application that enables them to resolve all of these issues from one central location, reducing the time required for internal and external document feedback and approval.

Built using McLaren's kVisia Industry Process Server technology and operating on Documentum's eBusiness platform, kTransmit allows project controllers to collate packages of documents, link them to configurable business rules and send them in a controlled manner to internal project teams and external contractors. kTransmit provides a controlled environment in which it is possible to distribute documents, track them, and consolidate feedback, thus fostering collaboration and aiding the review and approval process. In addition to transmitting documents, kTransmit can also accept submittals and responses.

Paul Muir, CEO with McLaren commented, "With large, complex projects, particularly in the engineering and design field, a smoothly run approval process is key to meeting project deadlines. kTransmit provides controlled distribution of content both across and beyond the enterprise. It takes advantage of the increased use of electronic files throughout business and creates an effective audit trail, increasing both the control of the managing organisation and the accountability of partners."

McLaren's kTransmit 1.1 is available from October 1st 2002.
