Siemens Introduces Order Fulfillment Software

Voice directed, pick-to-light & put-to-light integrated into one software platform

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 2, 2005 Siemens Logistics and Assembly Systems introduces PickDirector version 3.0, the latest release of its powerful order fulfillment software. Version 3.0 adds expanded functionality and performance; the key attribute is the integration of all paperless picking solutions into one software platform. Pick-to-light, put-to-light, voice-directed picking, pick carts, and RF-directed replenishment can now be accommodated by one integrated software package. A configurable module within the software architecture directs and manages each picking solution type.

With PickDirector 3.0, users can operate with one picking type or operate multiple picking technologies simultaneously in the same operation. The software's scalability allows users to start out with one picking solution type, for example, voice-directed picking or pick carts, and later add pick-to-light or put-to-light. Furthermore, PickDirector 3.0 supports other voice directed activities such as manifesting, cycle counting, or replenishment.

Included with PickDirector 3.0 is an order management module that offers expanded functionality such as wave processing, batching optimization, and the ability to sort orders by priority, destination, customer, or other variables. The software supports label printing, order editing, workload analysis, and dynamic zone balancing. The user interface also includes the ability to view the entire day's activity and system progress from one simple easy to use screen.
