Acsis Inc. Launches DataPass Enterprise For Adaptive Device Management, Data Collection and Integration

Software Solution Provides Framework for RFID Integration and Beyond; Equips Enterprises for Next Generation of Data Management

CHICAGO and MARLTON, N.J. - March 29, 2004 - Acsis, Inc., focused on delivering supply chain and business process automation solutions, today announced the launch of DataPass Enterprise, Acsis' comprehensive software solution to provide an adaptive architecture for device-, technology- and application-independent data collection, management and integration.

DataPass Enterprise aggregates data from any source or technology and integrates it across the organization for seamless access to business-critical information. The software provides organizations with an adaptive integration platform to leverage today's breakthroughs in wireless data collection, including radio frequency identification (RFID), and provides plug-and-play capabilities to easily integrate the next generation of data collection technology and devices. DataPass Enterprise is a new offering in Acsis' suite of supply chain execution and data integration products.

"Many data collection and enterprise application providers lost sight of the bigger picture in the rush to deliver point solutions to quickly accommodate industry initiatives like Wal-Mart's deadline for RFID compliance," said Steven G. Selfridge, president and chief executive officer, Acsis. "This 'quick-fix' mentality is in striking contrast to Acsis' forward-looking approach to data and device management and enterprise system integration. Users of DataPass Enterprise will have the tools to meet today's RFID mandates and the foundation to incorporate and prepare for future innovations in data-capture technologies."

The genesis of DataPass Enterprise stems from Acsis' more than 14 years of experience implementing data collection systems that address the needs of some of the world's largest manufacturers in the consumer products, automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Many large manufacturing companies operating multiple plants and contract manufacturers are unable to adequately reconcile disparate data collection and automation systems. These "silos of automation" created when standalone systems are not integrated effectively obscure a real-time view of the extended supply chain. DataPass Enterprise was developed to address this problem, providing a scaleable framework to collect, aggregate, synchronize and integrate data across the enterprise regardless of where the data originates.

"Today's data collection technology of choice is RFID, tomorrow it could be wireless embedded sensors," said John DiPalo, director of technical sales, Acsis. "DataPass Enterprise provides organizations with the flexibility to harness the efficiencies of new data collection technologies as they evolve without the disruption of altering existing business processes or applications."

The DataPass Enterprise platform offers the following capabilities, which are particularly critical when new technologies and devices like those associated with RFID are introduced into the enterprise:

oData Collection: DataPass Enterprise's adaptive data collection functionality delivers an uninterrupted flow of data in real time, wherever it is needed, in whatever form it is needed. The DataPass Enterprise architecture was developed to provide a single platform for data collection which can be implemented across the entire enterprise, providing for the integration of data into ERP systems regardless of the input source.

o Device Management: This functionality interprets and transforms data from disparate devices, like RFID readers and bar code scanners, into a form recognized by every device and application deployed throughout the enterprise. It also provides a framework for the addition of future devices.

o Application Optimization: DataPass Enterprise allows for the development of transactions that function the way users work. By automating back-end transactions, your data collection system allows for real-time visibility of transactions within your enterprise.

o Interfaced-based Integration and Control: With certified interfaces into industry standard messaging and transport protocols, the DataPass Enterprise interface and control layer allows for quick and seamless integration into ERP environments.
