Software protects anonymity of organization's data.

Press Release Summary:

DB2® Anonymous Resolution V3.8 enables organizations to share data by transforming clear text information into indecipherable, irreversible format using one-way hashing algorithms. Transformed data can be shared with another party while actual data bits remain anonymous. Software minimizes risk of unattended disclosure of organization's sensitive information while also limiting possibilities of data being re-purposed beyond scope of original intent.

Original Press Release:

IBM DB2 Anonymous Resolution Lets Organizations Share Proprietary Data While Maintaining Privacy

At a glance
DB2 Anonymous Resolution V3.8 enables organizations to share data by transforming clear text information into an indecipherable, irreversible format using industry-standard one-way hashing algorithms. Benefits include:

Reduces the risk of unintended disclosure of sensitive information.

Enables the exchange and correlation of information not previously possible.

Protects the anonymity of organizations' most valuable data.

Prevents data gathered for one purpose being re-purposed for another.

Keeps data under the control of the data owner.

Overview
DB2® Anonymous Resolution is the latest in the EAS suite of Entity Analytic middleware solutions providing a complementary value proposition to our Identity Resolution and Relationship Resolution software, as well as a stand-alone value proposition.

Anonymous Resolution offers revolutionary, patent-pending technology that allows organizations to resolve identities using only anonymized data from contributing systems. This anonymization allows two or more organizations to compare and correlate their proprietary data in a manner that never exposes the organizations' sensitive data values, to identify matches, as well as obvious and non-obvious relationships on demand.

Anonymous resolution is made possible by IBM's proprietary preprocessing technology that performs sophisticated cleanup and data normalization and enhancement functions on each data field. The software then processes the data through a one-way hash function - a unique value that represents original data in a form that is mathematically indecipherable and irreversible. The transformed data can then be shared with another party while the actual data bits remain anonymous.

Anonymized data is then resolved and when a match or relationship is found, DB2 Anonymous Resolution can be configured to generate immediate real-time alerts and notifications based on the type of match or relationship discovered. Since these alerts are being produced from an anonymized data set, the only information end users will receive is a pointer to the original data source, which always resides with the original data owner. Mission owners will use this pointer on a need-to-know basis to gain access to the original source record, with all of the prerequisite permissions and precautions required by law and the data owners' privacy policies. Anonymous Resolution will significantly reduce the risk of unattended disclosure of an organization's sensitive information while also limiting the possibilities of data being re-purposed beyond the scope of its original intent.

DB2 Anonymous Resolution V3.8 is added to the previously announced:
