CAPE Systems Releases Version 2.06 of Its RFID Tag Locator Software for Tag Placement Analysis

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J., March 2 / -- CAPE Systems Group, Inc., a leading provider of software technology for packaging design, RFID asset tracking, pallet optimization, inventory and warehouse management, supply chain execution and order fulfilment, today announced the release of Version 2.06 of its RFID Tag Locator software designed for RFID tag placement analysis and pallet-reading optimization.

This latest release of RFID Tag Locator incorporates a variety of new features and enhancements:

Document Types and Multiple Document Interfaces -- The new software now handles two basic file types -- case data and pallet data. In conjunction with this change, the application now allows multiple documents to be viewed and edited at the same time. This change further allows cases and vials to be defined as standalone objects. These objects can then be added to a pallet or container to build a single SKU or mixed entity. By allowing pallet objects to be stored separately, multiple pallets can be defined containing one or more case or item.

Extension past a simple Case-Pallet System -- The new software is designed to model more than just cases and pallets, including items such as vials and containers. For this reason the software allows the definition of the base unit to be a box, cylinder or pyramid of any size, so that cases, vials and single items can be more closely modelled. Likewise, the use is not just confined with pallet building -- mixed-item trays can also be built and modelled.

Image Overlays -- All single objects (cases, items, vials etc...) can now have an optional image overlaid onto any or all of their faces. This allows product graphics to be shown in conjunction with tag locator data. This in turn proves to be very useful when considering the final location for tag placement.

Mixed SKU Pallets and Containers -- The new version fully supports mixed SKUs.

Pallet Visualization Options -- The pallet reading screens now offer a host of visualization options such as:

View Cases that have been read -- a simple option that hides all cases until they have been read. As they are read, they appear in real-time.

View Cases that have not been read -- a simple option that shows all cases until they have been read. As they are read, they disappear in real-time.

View Cases as read by selected antennas -- Shows cases appearing as they are read, but not as they are color-coded to represent the antenna they were last seen at.

View Read Counts of each Case -- Shows cases appearing as they are read, but now color-codes the cases according to how many times the tag has been read.

To support this additional functionality, a new Pallet Reporting section has been added that allows printed reports to be generated.

Gen 2 Support -- Gen 2 tags are now supported, initially via Alien, Symbol and WJ readers. Other reader drivers will be upgraded to support Gen 2 in the new few months.

HF Support -- HF (13.56Mhz) tags are now supported. This initially means ISO-15693 tags, read using a Sirit HF reader.

Active Tag Support -- Active Tags from RF Code are supported.

Metric vs. Imperial -- User preferences now allow the selection between metric and imperial measurements

"Increasingly, the biggest challenge of the RFID supply chain today is tag placement," comments Peter Ayling, CAPE's Vice President for Worldwide Marketing. "Tags placed in the wrong location will lead to poor RFID reading results, which for many mean a failure to meet mandate compliance."

CAPE is offering the RFID Tag Locator to end-users of RFID, resellers and to system integrators who include tag analysis as part of their revenue generating services.
