ABAQUS, Inc., Announces Release of ABAQUS/Foundation(TM)

Software delivers full-featured linear static and dynamic finite element analysis, sets a new standard for price performance and license flexibility

PAWTUCKET, R.I., January 15, 2003 - ABAQUS, Inc., the world's leading provider of advanced finite element analysis (FEA) software, today announced the availability of a new product, called ABAQUS/Foundation(tm). ABAQUS/Foundation provides full access to the linear static and dynamic analysis functionality of ABAQUS/Standard, the company's flagship implicit FEA software, but at a significantly reduced cost.

"We have noticed a growing trend toward consolidation of FEA products among many of our key customers," said Ken Short, Vice-President of Marketing for ABAQUS, Inc. "ABAQUS/Foundation responds to this. It delivers all the linear static and dynamic analysis functionality these users require by allowing them to tap into their existing ABAQUS license, at a lower cost per job than for nonlinear analysis."

ABAQUS offers an entire suite of FEA software for solving linear, nonlinear, explicit and multi-body dynamics problems. The flexible new ABAQUS Version 6.3 license management system allows customers to access all analysis products in the suite - ABAQUS/Standard, ABAQUS/Explicit, ABAQUS/CAE, and now ABAQUS/Foundation - from a single pool of license tokens.

"The introduction of ABAQUS/Foundation provides enhanced flexibility to customers who can use the right tool for the right job while minimizing total cost of ownership," commented Frans Peeters, General Manager of ABAQUS Europe. "By offering tools for linear structural analysis right through to drop testing and material forming from within a single product suite, our software provides a scalable, cost efficient solution for finite element analysis throughout the enterprise."

ABAQUS/Foundation will ship to customers in the first quarter of 2003 and will be available for Windows, Linux, HP, SGI, IBM and Sun operating systems.
