WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 12 -- While Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) has been around for decades, many organizations still find it challenging to capture and summarize the data necessary to make supply chain decisions. To address this challenge, Supply Chain Consultants (www.supplychain.com), designer and supplier of the Zemeter suite of supply chain management (SCM) software products, today announced the introduction of Zemeter S&OP Azimuth(TM), a software solution for presenting summarized data to conduct S&OP meetings and pre-meetings.

S&OP Azimuth, with its SQL server database, provides organizations with the tools to integrate data from many systems, including spreadsheets, and perform "what-if" scenarios during executive S&OP meetings to make the most informed supply chain decisions. All data needed for conducting S&OP meetings, as well as demand planning and supply planning pre-S&OP meetings, is available in one place. S&OP Azimuth allows management to answer important questions during the meetings without reconvening for multiple iterations. S&OP Azimuth turns plans into both revenue and earnings based on input selling prices and costs. Metrics compare actuals and plans vs. budget by S&OP family. Management can also examine summaries by user-defined periods, such as quarters or total years, and any data or graph can be exported to Excel for custom analysis.

-- Summarize demand, supply and financials for pre-S&OP demand meetings, pre-S&OP supply meetings and the executive S&OP meeting;
-- Translate S&OP families to manufacturing families for capacity planning;
-- Display used and available capacity;
-- Use coloring rules to highlight any special situations, such as planned capacity usage greater than 100 percent for a production family.

S&OP Azimuth's Rough-Cut Capacity Planning feature allows companies to easily schedule demand at a push of a button, while ignoring capacity limitations, to illustrate any shortfalls in capacity or excess capacity available. At the push of another button, all capacity can be limited to 100 percent, highlighting any unmet demand or less-than-target inventories. Planners can then add extra shifts or make other adjustments to ensure that demand is met. Inventories are projected over time at the S&OP family level, both in dollars and in volume, for comparison to target levels.
