Latest Version of Vitria's Exception Management Application Offers Rapid Path to More Efficient Business Processes

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 24 / -- Vitria Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:VITR), a leading provider of Business Process Integration solutions, today announced the availability of Resolution Accelerator 2.1, the latest version of its service-oriented Business Process Application (BPA) for business exception management. Enhancements to Resolution Accelerator 2.1 speed implementation and extend the product's resolution capabilities to enable customers to efficiently and effectively reduce and resolve exceptions in their core business processes.

Vitria's BPAs are a new breed of service-oriented, packaged applications that automate and simplify the management of critical, complex business processes such as transaction management, order management and exception management.

In addition to ease-of-implementation enhancements, Resolution Accelerator 2.1 includes new capabilities for automatically resolving many process exceptions and efficiently guiding off-line resolution when human involvement is required. It also includes several new reporting and auditing capabilities, giving business process owners more visibility and operational control over activities occurring outside their standard process flows.

Updates to Resolution Accelerator 2.1 include:

-- End-to-End Lifecycle Management: Resolution Accelerator 2.1 manages the entire exception resolution lifecycle, from classifying exceptions to retrieving appropriate data from other systems to resolving exceptions to reinserting repaired transactions back into the normal process flow.

-- Exception Handler Services: Resolution Accelerator 2.1 provides several automatic and manual handlers that can be configured to resolve some exceptions defined in the exception dictionary service. Capabilities to add other handlers are also included.

-- Repair Workstation: This is a new customizable user interface for operational staff performing manual steps resolving a process exception. It provides a task list view, an exception detail view, and an exception resolution dialog view.

-- Dynamic Dialog Generation Service: This new capability lets implementation teams easily configure context-sensitive exception resolution views that show operational staff only the data and resolution options relevant to the type of exception they are resolving.

-- Monitoring, Reporting, and Auditing: Resolution Accelerator 2.1 provides configurable dashboards, status reporting, extensive audit logging, and capabilities to facilitate use with third party reporting and business intelligence products.

-- Integration with BusinessWare (R) Rules Engine: This option is well suited for managing a large set of rules for classifying exceptions, validating and enriching data, automating resolution steps, and routing modified transactions to various applications.

-- Integration with other Vitria Business Process Applications: These include Order Accelerator for telecommunications service ordering and provisioning; Smart Gateway for trading partner interoperability; and Smart Claims for health insurance claims monitoring, pre-adjudication, and pend management.

Earlier versions of Resolution Accelerator have been purchased by companies in North America, Europe, and Latin America.

Resolution Accelerator 2.1 is available now and will be provided to existing customers as a free upgrade.
