WebSideStory Launches Search 4.0 - First to Automatically Integrate Site Search and Web Site Behavioral Data

Brooks Brothers Sees Dramatic Increase in Conversions Using Search 4.0 to Drive Relevancy of Search Results

SAN DIEGO, April 24 / / -- WebSideStory, Inc. (NASDAQ:WSSI), a leading provider of on-demand digital marketing and customer analysis applications, today announced the launch of WebSideStory Search 4.0, the first site search solution to automatically integrate site search and web site behavioral data. This patent-pending technology, called Active Ranking, enables marketers to optimize the ranking of their search results based on any number of important visitor metrics, such as conversion rate, entry pages, most requested pages and visits, and dramatically improve their online business objectives, including increasing conversions or delivering the most relevant content. WebSideStory Search 4.0 integrates with WebSideStory's HBX Analytics solution via the company's Stream Reporting API (application programming interface). WebSideStory Search 4.0 offers a number of other important capabilities and innovations, including guided site navigation, a 10-fold increase in search capacity, and automated SEO sitemap and shopping engine feeds, enabling marketers to maximize the acquisition, retention and conversion of online customers. Combined with its on-demand delivery model, which provides faster speed to market than traditional installed software, WebSideStory Search 4.0 provides the most strategic business value of any site search solution on the market today.

"Based on early results, WebSideStory's new search product has already increased our sales due to site search by at least 25 percent," said Lillian Posner, Director of E-Commerce for Brooks Brothers, one of the country's oldest clothing retailers with more than 160 locations nationwide. "The automation and integration WebSideStory has achieved between its products significantly improves the effectiveness of our web site."

The new capabilities with Search 4.0 include:

o Active Ranking -- An industry-first capability that enables marketers
to automatically influence and optimize site search relevancy -- the
ability to provide visitors exactly what they are looking for -- based
on the full spectrum of web site behavioral data, from e-commerce
metrics to content and traffic information. This patent-pending
technology enables marketers to deliver better search results and
dramatically increase ROI. Marketers can also upload other data to
include data such as profitability and user ratings. Active Ranking is
an extended service.
o Active Navigation -- Active Navigation provides a guided experience
that optimally leads customers to products or data they seek. Using
site search to power the site navigation enables visitors to narrow
their choices much more easily, while reducing the amount of
maintenance and support required by the web team. Active Navigation
can also take advantage of Active Ranking to automate the integration
of web analytics data into the visitor navigation experience. Active
Navigation is an extended service.
o Large Capacity Search -- Search 4.0 includes an architecture that
boosts its search capacity by more than 10 times, making it capable of
handling millions of indexed pages. Search 4.0 also includes increased
redundancy across its network, meaning nearly 100 percent availability
for customers.
o Stream Shopping Engine Feeds -- Using Search 4.0, e-commerce customers
can automate their submissions to shopping search engines without
having to engage the IT department. Bloomingdales.com is currently
taking advantage of this capability to extend its product catalog into
Google and its Froogle shopping engine.
o Stream SEO Sitemap Feeds -- Customers of all business models can
leverage the product to automatically generate feeds for Google
Sitemaps. This ensures that Google always has the most current
information about your site, based on the priorities customers assign.

"Driving site search relevancy based on a full set of web analytics data is an important innovation in the market," said Susan Aldrich, senior vice president for Boston-based Patricia Seybold Group, a leading analyst firm specializing in the customer experience. "Combine that with its on-demand model and other new capabilities, and WebSideStory Search 4.0 has set itself apart as a top choice for enterprise site search."

"In addition to its many other benefits, the on-demand model enables us to innovate much faster than our competitors and easily provide connections with external services, such as shopping search engines, sitemaps and other applications like HBX analytics," said Steve Kusmer, senior vice president and general manager of WebSideStory's Search & Content Solutions division. "We are pleased to deliver this next generation of site search to our many customers and look forward to helping them be even more successful online."
