Original Press Release:

Enhanced SCADA Solution Provides Complete Upward Compatibility for Medium to Large Machine Applications

PALATINE, Ill. - Sept. 7, 2004 - Schneider Electric has introduced Monitor Pro(TM) v7.2 software - a functional, easy-to-use supervision toolbox designed for medium to large applications. This highly scalable SCADA software is based on a set of widely accepted industry standard technologies, including ActiveX, COM/DCOM, OPC and Microsoft Visual Basic and is compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. This assures improved interoperability and lower integration and training costs.

A built-in graphic interface provides a complete library of graphic objects that can be customized easily, while the Configuration Explorer offers an intuitive environment that enables object-oriented configuration. Supplied with SQL Server 2000, the software easily records production data and provides fast access to stored information.

DOC Auto and On-Line Configuration reduce application development time and maintenance. Applications are stored on the Monitor Pro servers, but can be developed and maintained from any client in the system. Any application modifications are "pushed" to all clients within the system, significantly reducing the cost and effort associated with developing and maintaining Monitor Pro applications.

Monitor Pro v7.2 includes Client Builder and Configuration Explorer as two powerful tools for unprecedented functionality and productivity. With either OFS Linker or Symbol Database Linker, tags can be dragged to any editor in the system, minimizing typing and increasing productivity.

Its multi-tier architecture is inherently scalable. Small applications can exist on a single computer, while large applications running across multiple servers can provide information to hundreds of users and process millions of data points. Additional scalability can be achieved simply by adding Monitor Pro servers in the middle tier. The architecture of Monitor Pro makes it easy to distribute information to higher-level business systems anywhere in the organization.

In the past year, Schneider Electric has greatly expanded its HMI hardware and software offering under its Telemecanique® brand, all built to simplify the design and operation of operator interface applications and to reduce costs for original equipment builders and industrial users.
