MONTREAL, Quebec. March 9th, 2006 - Eicon Networks Corporation ("Eicon"), a global leader in providing world class products and technologies for media processing, today announced new software to provide SS7 signaling protocol support for its Diva Server product line. The new Diva Server SoftSS7 software enables all existing or new applications written to any of the Diva Server APIs, including CAPI, to operate seamlessly in both ISDN and SS7/ISUP carrier environments. This gives Eicon partners the flexibility to fully integrate their existing Diva Server-based applications into carrier networks without any extra development costs.

With the new Diva Server SoftSS7 software, only SS7-relevant parameters need to be configured when installing an application with Diva Server PRI/E1 adapters to operate unchanged in a PSTN using SS7 signaling. Diva Server SoftSS7 is ideal for call routing, messaging and 3G video telephony. It can also be used with any application that is directly linked to a carrier network.

The new software supports from 0 to 247 channels or Circuit Identification Codes (CICs) per server. Like all other Diva Server products, all supported applications and connection types can be used in parallel (e.g. fax, analog, VoIP, V.90). In addition, line testers or protocol converters for SIP, Q-SIG, ETSI and SS7 can be implemented on a single multi-PRI adapter. SoftSS7 gives application developers more flexibility. For example, SS7 links and CICs can be operated on single or multiple E1 interfaces. This means that smaller installations can be operated cost effectively with fewer Diva Server adapters.

"Adding SS7 to the Diva Server product family enables Eicon partners to expand their current applications and know-how into the carrier market. One of the main benefits is that Eicon makes it possible to use the same hardware for all technologies. The use of one type of card lowers costs and simplifies logistics", explains Arndt-Michael Meyer, Eicon Networks Product Line Manager. "Diva Server SoftSS7 now ensures that the Diva Server dual and quad span PRI/E1 telephony adapters deliver carrier class scalable
solutions."

SS7 Details
In the public telephone network, the SS7 protocol handles tasks including call control, exchange of control data, routing, fee calculation and value-added services (Custom Local Area Signaling Services - CLASS). SS7 is based on packet-mode signaling and a packet-switched transfer of the signaling message via channels with a bandwidth of up to 64 kbit/s.
