Agilent Technologies Now Offers Most Comprehensive Real-Time Diagnostics, Analysis for LTE

Platform Significantly Cuts Cycle Times and OPEX with Multi-User Access, LTE/Multi-Network Monitoring and Performance Analysis

BARCELONA, Spain, 2009 Mobile World Congress, Hall 1, Stand D45, Feb. 16, 2009 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the availability of the test industry's most complete, end-to-end analysis and troubleshooting solution for LTE networks. The Signaling Analyzer Real Time (SART) for LTE provides comprehensive monitoring and network diagnostics by interpreting, correlating and analyzing protocol signaling messages produced by multiple network technologies at mobile network interfaces.

LTE represents the next major advance of mobile networks. Demand for the technology is expected to accelerate rapidly and initial deployments are anticipated by the end of 2009. SART for LTE is already in use at several customer sites and will be demonstrated as one of Agilent's many "Measurement Solutions for a Mobile World" here at Mobile World Congress.

Agilent's new LTE solution extends the SART platform, which already covers virtually all mobile networks - GSM/GPRS, UMTS, CDMA2000 - as well as service-delivery platforms such as VoIP and IMS. Since real-world LTE will not function in isolation, lab engineers need to monitor and analyze communications between LTE and other network technologies. Agilent's SART for LTE is the industry's only solution that combines these capabilities within a single proven platform. Network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) can use it to refine their technology against test benchmarks and prove to wireless service providers (WSPs) the equipment works. WSPs can use the solution to accelerate trials, deployment and operations, and quickly provide consumers with reliable services over LTE networks.

Agilent has combined distributed probing, software and hardware intelligence, multi-user access and real-time network performance analysis to make SART for LTE the fastest and most flexible solution of its kind. Agilent probes can be placed anywhere in the network, including at any interface between LTE and other technologies. Probes use built-in hardware intelligence to perform relevant analyses that enables significantly faster processing and scalability. This is critical in LTE environments, where performance demands are expected to increase tenfold. SART's real-time network performance analysis provides comprehensive real-time measurements against key performance indicators (KPIs) as defined by LTE standards organizations. This lets users instantly see what is happening on the network at a given time.

"A number of our major customers have been pleasantly surprised to see a solution that can often accomplish in 15 minutes what takes hours with competitive products," said Todd Biddle, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Network Solution Division. "Test engineers understand, contrary to popular lore, that LTE makes their jobs more complicated because of all the interdependencies with other networks. They will appreciate the fact that everything can be done within a single platform and they can usually get results with a few clicks of the mouse."
