WAYNE, Penn. - [October 20Month xx, 2003 - MEDecision Inc., a software and services leader in care management, today announced immediate availability of CarePlanner and Reporting and Information System (CRIS) and MEDecision Integrated Data Repository (MIDR), enterprise-class reporting and data warehousing facilities that continue MEDecision's IT push for improved and affordable healthcarebetter analytic tools, better information for care managers and improved decision support capabilities.

As part of falling under MEDecision's Integrated Medical Management (IMM) umbrella, CRIS and MIDR provide an overall repository of clinical patient and provider information in a single space where it can feed into new generations of systems. Having this crucial information at their fingertips, managed care organizations (MCOs) can create a reports to then develop the right programs, target the right members, and feed all sources of best practice outcome management.

"Leveraging data as an organizational asset is critical for the MCO striving to improve care and reduce costs," said John H. Capobianco, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at MEDecision. "By providing the ability to measure, report, and improve clinical and financial outcomes, CRIS and MIDR enable the delivery of consistent, timely, and accurate management decisions."

Examining CRIS and MIDR

To deliver best-of-breed data reporting and warehousing services, MEDecision tapped industry-leading technologies and then tuned and optimized them for the healthcare arena. CRIS benefits from a newly -formed relationship with Business Objects to leverage that company's data reporting and management technologies. MIDR, the data warehousing facility, employs an Oracle database as its data repository.

By representing data in its business presentation format, CRIS facilitates accurate report definitions for business users by eliminating the need to understand relational data structures. Likewise, the business presentation format helps MCOs realize higher productivity through the unencumbered processing capability to reduced cycle times in supporting information requests.

With CRIS, MCOs can reap the benefits of MEDecision's care management expertise with standard report templates that can be easily tailored to generate custom, ad-hoc reports that meet each organization's unique requirements.

Initially serving as the repository feeding CRIS with clinical data found in Integrated Medical Management's Advanced Medical Management database, MIDR will become IMM's centralized data warehouse. MIDR will then be delivering all patient-oriented data - both clinical and claims data - to the entire suite of IMM applications, helping MCOs cut costs and improve quality of care.

About Integrated Medical Management

Integrated Medical Management (IMM) is both a vision and product solution born out of the healthcare industry's need to unite disparate, best-of-breed care management systems into a single, holistic solution. The goal: 1) handle information more efficiently, and apply rules more consistently throughout the medical management decision-making process, and 2) recognize and leverage the interdependencies of care management, analytics, and transaction/authorization systems. The result is higher quality of healthcare lower costs.

MEDecision's IMM software platform fuses best-of-breed applications in Analytics and Disease Management, Advanced Medical Management, and Transactioning and Automated Authorizations. MCOs use the resulting solution to identify high-risk, high-cost members, diseases and conditions, which then automatically feed the programs needed to improve patient care and optimize costs. Further, MEDecision's IMM automates healthcare transactions between MCOs and providers, thereby allowing the automated systems to focus on costs and allowing the professionals to focus on outcomes, while driving a consistent clinical philosophy throughout the care management process.
