Interactive Enterprise Announces On-Demand Service Gateway; Conexon Module Enables Broadband Operators to Offer Prepaid Broadband Services

StarHub Launches Prepaid High-Speed Data Service To End-users Via Gateway Module

BURLINGTON, Mass. - April 20, 2004 -- Interactive Enterprise, the provider of ConexonTM -- the #1 globally deployed system in the cable provisioning/activation market -- today announced On-Demand Service Gateway, a new module that enables broadband operators to offer prepaid data, voice and video services to their customers.

The company also announced that StarHub, Singapore's leading info-communications company, has launched a prepaid broadband service, MaxOnline FlexiSurf 1500, using the new Conexon module.

Interactive Enterprise's Conexon enables and supports a complete range of high-speed data, voice and video services across StarHub's broadband cable network. StarHub leverages Conexon as a strategic platform to enable it to rapidly launch many broadband services to a broad range of devices.

On-Demand Service Gateway provides operators with the capability to define innovative and flexible fixed-usage and fixed-duration service plans; sign up new and renew subscribers through a secure "walled garden" portal; and interface with bank or credit card payment clearing gateways or operators' billing systems. It also provides end-users with information about their current and remaining usage metrics and initiates and terminates service without the need for manual intervention. The new module provides a full range of customer support and trouble management tools.

StarHub is recognized as one of the world's most innovative broadband operators. The company's newly launched MaxOnline FlexiSurf 1500 service is the first prepaid offering in Singapore. It enables Internet users to enjoy always-on, unlimited broadband access to Internet for up to 1.5 Mbps (megabits per second) of speed (downloads) and the convenience of paying only for the service as and when desired. The service is ideally suited for Internet users with less frequent need for broadband access -- as an alternative to a monthly subscription. For example, individuals who travel for a significant amount of time can pay for broadband access only for the periods of time they are in town.

According to Thomas Ee, senior vice president of Online Services at StarHub, "Our partnership with Interactive Enterprise has enabled us to launch the most innovative broadband services in the region, providing us with a competitive advantage. Conexon offers us an accelerated time to revenue, demonstrated by the fact that our prepaid service was live a month after we finalized all details with Interactive Enterprise. We are also impressed with Conexon's open technology, particularly regarding its ability to interface with third-party complementary applications."

"We are delighted to see StarHub use our new On-Demand Service Gateway module to add an additional service to its already impressive lineup of services," said Tom Higgins, CEO of Interactive Enterprise. "Using Conexon, StarHub can quickly launch innovative new services that have no manual touchpoints, thus radically reducing operating costs. We look forward to our continued relationship with StarHub as it rolls out a full complement of innovative broadband services."
