New features in SQL diagnostic manager v4.0 include:
o Metrics Repository - Captures and stores SQL Server performance and availability metrics in a central repository from SQL Servers across the enterprise. Using data stored in the Repository, DBAs can easily create custom reports to perform a variety of functions, including trend analysis, capacity planning, data comparison, data correlation, and forecasting.
o Best Practice Reporting - pre-defined reports, sample reports and a guide to writing custom reports are provided 'out of the box' with the metrics repository. In addition an on-line community is available for all SQL diagnostic manager users to share best practice reports.
o Enhanced Web Console - The SQL diagnostic manager Web Console now enables real-time, anywhere, anytime monitoring of SQL Server 2005 instances from a Web browser.
o SNMP Alerting - SQL diagnostic manager now dispatches alerts directly to enterprise management frameworks like Tivoli, HP OpenView and CA UniCenter.
