OSIsoft Announces Latest Version of PI BatchView Software

Provides Desktop-Based Monitoring of Key Performance Indicators Framed by Repeatable Process or Business Events

SAN LEANDRO, CA -- August 13, 2003 - OSISoft, provider of the world's leading Real-time Performance Management (RtPM) platform, today announced the release of PI BatchView version 3.0, a graphical user interface which enables businesses to determine the repeatability of a variety of processes within their operations, all from the convenience of a desktop.

"Businesses run on information," said Michael Saucier, OSIsoft's vice president of marketing, "And PI BatchView provides a desktop-based window to valuable data in order to improve an enterprise's analysis of any event and/or batch processing operations."

With the newest version of PI BatchView, users have access to a hierarchical representation of repeatable process events -- information which enables them to achieve more proficient and consistent batches or events. A process variable can be displayed as a batch event, and compared to hundreds of similar events, in order to verify process repeatability.

Large enterprises run thousands of batches in a matter of days, and are challenged with reducing cycle time and increasing product consistency. PI BatchView ensures that key information reaches the right people at the right time, so that each batch increases in consistency and efficiency.

A batch can be defined as any event with a start and an end, or a fixed time period such as an hour, a shift, a day, a week or a month, or a particular phase within a manufacturing process. Examples of events that can be monitored by PI BatchView include real-time trends, the comparison of multiple batches, such as basis weights and dryer temperatures for different rolls of paper, electricity utilization, and turbine startup and stop. Users can use PI BatchView to review past events as well, for example, searching PI DataStorage for previous processes by product, procedure, cycle time, or any other category.

PI BatchView works as a component within OSIsoft's ProcessBook, the graphical user interface to OSIsoft's PI System, and serves as the client to PI Batch, the server component. While the software supports the ISA 88 batch standard in manufacturing, it can be applied to other industries as well, including automotive and semiconductor operations, since it compares productivity and overall equipment effectiveness between shifts, days, and other repeatable events.
