Overview
Streamline and simplify your system deployment and migration process with IBM System Migration Assistant (SMA) V4.1. The following two versions are available:
o For IBM systems only - Available for no additional charge; download from IBM Web sites
o For all other systems - Available on a per-seat license basis
Both versions are available in several languages including English, Italian, German, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
This announcement covers the specific fee-based offering for
non-IBM systems for the SMA V4.1 software tool.

SMA V4.1 quickly and accurately migrates user, system, and network settings along with e-mail and data to a new PC. It has an easy-to-use GUI for end-user-driven migrations and a silent mode that automates the migration process to a large number
of systems.
New features of SMA V4.1 include:
o Peer-to-peer migration:
- Copies your files and settings directly from the source
system to the target system without having to store your settings and files on a server
- Automatically configures the TCP/IP connection (between
source and target operating systems) for fast and easy setup
o More applications supported (for migrating application settings)
o Primary connection types supported: TCP/IP (via network or
Ethernet cross-over cable) or external USB hard drive; not
included
