NADCA Releases PQ2 Version 2.0



ROSEMONT, IL (August 18, 2003) - PQ2 Version 2.0 is now available from the North American Die Casting Association (NADCA). Die casters may utilize this updated casting-specific program for part design and process optimization on their PC.

This popular die casting specific program provides a mathematics-based overall system for flow prediction, runner design and feed design. The power of the program is that it provides information to determine whether a die can be successfully run on a specific machine, enabling first time success and elimination of problems caused by mismatching dies to machines. Using the results of a machine's performance, the program carries out die trials on paper to show the effect of various parameters on cavity fill conditions. Using repeat calculations, the system then can specify machine settings, gate area and cavity fill conditions. This program is compatible with the NADCA Gating Software and can share basic die design data.

Improvements of PQ2 Version 2.0 over the prior version of PQ2 include:
o Quicker and easier manipulation of die and machine files
o The addition of Help files and an improved step-by-step function
o The ability to organize records by machine or by die (to see what machines a die runs on and vice versa)
o Enhanced compatibility with Windows 2000, XP, and NT
o The ability to switch between pressure versus flow rate and pressure versus plunger velocity graphs, which show values for pressure, flow rate and velocity
o Built-in metal densities
