APCON Debuts New Feature Set for TITAN Software

Robust scheduling and search capabilities added to streamline operations in multi-user test lab and network monitoring environments

Wilsonville, Ore. - March 5, 2008 - APCON, Inc., the leader in physical layer switch solutions today announced that it has released a new feature set for its powerful TITAN software. Designed to simplify management of multiple APCON switches in test lab and network monitoring environments, TITAN provides a secure and centralized point of control for network connections, as well as a scalable platform to accommodate infrastructure growth.

New to this release of TITAN, now version 1.6, is the Topology Scheduler, which enables users to create a calendar for running saved network topologies. In addition to scheduling start and end times, this new feature enforces permissions - preventing users from creating overlapping start/stop times and restricting their ability to cancel others' schedules.

"TITAN customers often have a dozen or more users managing a hundred or more topologies," said APCON President and CEO Richard Rauch. "They'll appreciate features that address this ever-increasing workload and keep network operations running smoothly."

Other features of the new TITAN 1.6 release include:

Greater flexibility - When searching for devices, users can now define as many as three levels of search criteria and determine the hierarchy by which they are searched. This addresses the various ways that devices are arranged today (e.g., by location, device or port type, even by device group and port group).

Ease of use - To streamline user logins, TITAN now supports RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication. As a result, users with multiple APCON switches will be able to use a single login for multi-switch access.

Increased capability - Users already are able to run topologies with the CLI. Now, they can create, edit and delete topologies and schedules through it as well.
TITAN is designed to facilitate easy connections of multiple APCON INTELLAPATCH(TM) switches and other third-party devices, creating a limitless virtual switch architecture capable of supporting thousands of ports. TITAN 1.6 maintains the industry-leading features of TITAN, including device wizards that simplify setup and configuration; a "find" tool that highlights a device in large complex topologies; device indicators that instantly show port availability; and enhanced logging and reporting.

INTELLAPATCH switches support all common copper and fiber protocols with speeds up to 10Gig. Chassis range in size from 16 to 288 ports and allow for partial chassis population, thereby leaving room for expansion.
