Harris Corporation Introduces NetBoss XS(TM) Service Manager for Broadband, Wireless and Converged Networks

Combines Powerful Service Inventory, Service Catalog, Service Monitoring, and Service Impact Analysis in a single, cost-effective product

MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 14 / -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading global provider of resource management and service assurance systems, today introduced NetBoss XS(TM) Service Manager, a new Service Management product containing the applications most critical to managing today's service oriented networks. NetBoss XS Service Manager provides exceptional value in a single product package with extensive features, including Service Catalog, Service Inventory, Service Performance Monitoring, Service Quality Monitoring, and Service Impact Analysis (SIA).

"Given the complexity of today's next-generation networks and the rapid introduction of new technologies and services, network operators are faced with an increasing challenge in terms of identifying service problems in a timely manner," said John Koenig, vice president of the Harris NetBoss business unit. "NetBoss XS Service Manager enables operators to effectively address and handle issues quickly, at a time when it is becoming more critical than ever to optimize the revenue-impacting Service Management capability within their Operational Support Systems (OSS). The lack of integration and synergy among network elements, particularly when introducing many new technologies and services into a network, also makes it difficult to ensure reliability. NetBoss XS(TM) is critical to service providers that require increased service up-time while ensuring a positive end-user experience. To ensure both of these things happen, service providers must not only have an accurate and up-to-date view of their services, but also a correlated view of the impacts between them and their supporting resources -- NetBoss XS(TM) provides both."

The most powerful feature of NetBoss XS(TM) is its SIA capability, which enables service providers to rapidly and automatically perform service impact analysis, quickly correlating adversely affected services with the corresponding resource problem events. This feature expeditiously focuses network operations staff on the critical events that affect customer service, enabling timely and accurate identification of the impacted service.

Complementing SIA, the NetBoss XS Service Catalog enables service providers to define individual and hierarchically bundled service templates. Its companion application, the NetBoss XS Service Inventory, provides the capability to replicate these service packages into standard or customized individual services, creating a triple-play service bundle that is vital to service provider revenue growth in today's competitive service marketplace.

As one of the next generation of NetBoss® products, NetBoss XS(TM) features numerous graphical user interface (GUI) advancements based on JIDE, a mature and widely used JAVA SWING-based interface technology. These enhancements give NetBoss XS(TM) a consistent, uniform, easy-to-learn, and easy-to-use GUI that contributes to lower operating costs.

NetBoss XS(TM) seamlessly integrates with Harris Manage.IT(TM), the resource management solution of the NetBoss® suite. Together, Harris NetBoss Manage.IT(TM), Harris Smart Agents, and the new NetBoss XS(TM) form a Service Assurance and Resource Management OSS of great power and effectiveness. Further enhancing its value and benefits, the robustness of a NetBoss XS(TM)-based Service Management System can be packaged with optional NetBoss modules such as the NetBoss Executive Dashboard, NetBoss Reporter, and more.

The NetBoss XS Service Manager is available now. Contact Harris for more information via phone: 1-800-442-7747, or email: netsup@harris.com.
