DataFlux® Introduces Version 6 Data Management Suite

- Integration of Data Management methodology enhances technology suite -

CARY, N.C. (June 10, 2003) DataFlux Corporation, a SAS Company and leading provider of data management solutions that increase the consistency, accuracy and reliability of enterprise data assets, today announced the availability of its new Version 6. The release is available now with General Availability scheduled for July, 2003 and includes the following key features: integrated Data Management methodology and software solution for Profiling, Quality, Integration and Augmentation; dfPower Architect, a new Workflow Manager component that controls all aspects of data management; enhanced data profiling capabilities; customer data integration support that provides the ability to track customers over time; and enhanced support for non-name and address data. Organizations benefit from using one single, integrated solution for data profiling, data quality, data integration, and data augmentation, while business and IT users benefit from the ability to complete data quality and data integration projects in record time.

"With Version 6, DataFlux has combined all aspects of data management into an integrated set of products that support the enterprise," said Guy Creese, Research Director at Aberdeen Group. "Unfortunately, many enterprises continue to take a fragmented approach to refining their corporate data, ultimately leading to failures in operational and business intelligence projects. DataFlux's architecture means that they can now attack this problem in a federated way - that is, tactically as needs arise but still within an overall framework. This coordinated yet pragmatic approach is needed if enterprises are going to solve their data integration problems

Integrated Methodology/Solution - The DataFlux Data Management methodology recognizes that every organization faces unique data challenges, largely based on the complexity and proprietary nature of the data itself. DataFlux uses an integrated process involving Profiling, Quality, Integration and Augmentation, which ties together all aspects of data quality and data integration projects. Version 6 and the integrated methodology allow end-to-end data management to be achieved in record time, without an army of consultants. Substantial cost savings will be realized through reduced capital and labor costs. Additionally, better data will yield better decisions.

Workflow Management - Version 6 includes a new component that will have a profound impact on the way users design the data management process flow within dfPower Studio. This intuitive application will let users design the flow of data through various data standardization, transformations, and consolidation processes by dragging and dropping objects on to the dfPower Architect workflow window. Customers will be able to fully implement the DataFlux methodology for data management by utilizing this data process flow tool. In a single pass, dfPower Architect can profile, cleanse, integrate and augment information, as well as match and link information across multiple data sources all from one application.

Non-Name and Address Data - Every organization suffers from data management problems and these problems are not limited to customer data. Companies need robust data management support for many other types of data, including: product and commodity data, supplier and supply chain data, and compliance data.

Data Profiling - New data profiling operations enable organizations to detect data errors and inconsistencies as well as interpret and infer the structure of legacy databases or text files (metadata). Identifying null values, frequency counts, minimum and maximum values and outliers, patterns, redundant data across tables, and even cross-column dependencies is absolutely critical to the success of any enterprise information system or business intelligence initiative. Data profiling is an integral part of the DataFlux Data Management methodology as organizations cannot implement solid data management practices without first discovering the nature of the data available in the organization.

"We want to create memories for our guests as the best mountain, beach and resort experience...again and again," said Ken Greenaway, Project Manager/Analyst of Intrawest Corporation. "All of our interactions with our guests contribute to this experience. This new version from DataFlux provides data profiling solutions to help us learn more about our guests and to ensure that any data whatsoever, even proprietary data, are clean, relevant, and actionable. Better, more relevant data equates to better, more relevant communications with all of our guests."

Customer Data Integration - Allowing users to make use of persisted household keys as new records are added to a data set, customers can be sure that any relationships established by the sophisticated DataFlux matching process can be secured over time even as new records enter the system or as existing records change (such as when an individual changes his or her address). Using a new householding engine, Version 6 ensures that organizations can track the lifetime value of all customers at a specific household, while identifying and detecting when people move into or out of an existing household.

According to Tony Fisher, DataFlux president and general manager, "Strategic decision making starts with the consistency, accuracy and reliability of an organization's data. Version 6 is a fully integrated Data Management solution that is a first for the market. Our customers include companies in a variety of industries - High Tech, Telecommunications, Financial Services, and Retail, to name just a few. It is the input, expertise and feedback from our customer base that has driven our innovative development efforts and we are extremely excited to unveil Version 6."
