Harmonic Unveils Powerful Solution for Managing On-Demand and Broadcast Video Delivery Infrastructure

- NMX StreamLiner® Cluster Workstation Enables Centralized Management of StreamLiner Video Server Clusters via an Integrated User Interface -

LAS VEGAS - NAB 2008 Booth #SU9612 - April 14, 2008 - Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ: HLIT) today introduced NMX StreamLiner® Cluster Workstation, a powerful extension to Harmonic's NMX Digital Service Manager(TM) that provides a range of advanced tools for managing assets and resource usage of clusters of Harmonic StreamLiner video servers. This technically sophisticated solution provides centralized management and control via a single, user-friendly, feature-rich interface. StreamLiner Cluster Workstation significantly reduces the cost and complexity of managing on-demand services and delivers a number of key benefits, including management of an asset's entire life cycle, significantly enhanced support and maintenance operations, and real time usage viewing.

As the popularity for on-demand services such as video-on-demand (VOD), time-shifted TV, and network personal video recording (nPVR) continues to grow, managing and controlling a large number of video servers is becoming much more challenging. StreamLiner Cluster Workstation provides satellite, cable, and telco operators a powerful and intelligent tool to more efficiently scale on-demand content delivery. By adding cluster management capability to the NMX platform, Harmonic is providing a complete view and control of the entire video delivery path for both real-time channels and on-demand services.

"Harmonic's extensive experience and knowledge in managing digital video headends was valuable in the development of our NMX StreamLiner Cluster Workstation solution," said Shahar Bar, Director of On-Demand Solutions for Harmonic Inc. "The result is a technically sophisticated management and control system that greatly simplifies on-demand video delivery and gives our customers a much more efficient, user-friendly and advanced tool for managing VOD and other on-demand content. StreamLiner Cluster Workstation delivers state-of-the-art network management functionality and addresses the key issues operators are facing as they scale their service offering to meet consumer demand."

StreamLiner Cluster Workstation, combined with Harmonic's Armada® intelligent asset manager software, presents a virtualized view of StreamLiner video server clusters and automatically replicates popular content to different edge servers in the cluster. Maintenance operations are also greatly simplified. Users are now able to easily decommission any server or any asset from the cluster while maintaining the redundancy functionality of the cluster. Other key features include query and searching of content and its attributes, customizable graphical views for characterizing streaming characteristics and popularity curves, and an extensive audit trail easily monitored via the user interface.

StreamLiner Cluster Workstation is an optional extension available with Harmonic's NMX Digital Service Manager. Operators with currently installed NMX systems can easily add cluster workstation functionality with a software license upgrade.

Harmonic is showcasing the StreamLiner Cluster Workstation as part of its "everything on demand" video delivery solution at its booth #SU9612 at NAB in Las Vegas, April 14-17.
