New Microsoft .NET Application Allows Managers to Easily Make Sense of Manufacturing Data
CHICAGO, March 18, 2002-Made2Manage Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: MTMS), a leading provider of comprehensive enterprise business systems for mid-market manufacturers, today announced a new business
intelligence (BI) application called Business Analysis.
Business Analysis, built with Microsoft(R) .NET and XML Web Services technology, is an advanced product that extends the Made2Manage(R) Business Intelligence (M2M(TM) BI) suite to provide several distinct capabilities. The tool provides online analytical processing (OLAP) information cubes that are hosted and refreshed by Made2Manage Systems and are accessible from anywhere in the world with Microsoft Office XP and a Web browser. The first three cubes to be released are Demand Sales, Purchase Review and Profit/Loss Review; additional cubes will be announced.
"The key market differentiator is that this BI tool does not include viewing software like Cognos or ProClarity, which requires an extra investment of time and money into third-party software and training," said Amelia Sutcliffe Ross, director of business collaboration for Made2Manage Systems. "Our offering takes advantage of the Microsoft technology and its intuitive icons that are already familiar to our customers."
The multi-dimensional database structure within the Business Analysis tool makes the cubes available for hierarchical viewing and enables the data to be queried by multiple categories. The categories are based on the needs of the user-not on a database schema-to enable data to be viewed in a way that is meaningful to the user.
The true value to the manufacturer is that Made2Manage Systems handles the installation, maintenance and upgrade of the cubes. "Our hybrid-hosted delivery means all manufacturers can take advantage of this strategic management tool at the lowest total cost of ownership," said Ross. "Our customers merely host a small file of .NET code, which we call M2M Gateway, so we can refresh their OLAP cubes as well as provide real-time data
and order and quote entry via their personalized Enterprise Portal. M2M Gateway is the key to an ever-expanding set of rich applications that manufacturers have been unable to support to this point.
