Software lets SolidWorks read and write 3D DWG/DXF files.

Press Release Summary:

AutoCAD DWG and DXF file import and export add-ins enable SolidWorks to support all versions of DWG and DXF file format as well as export parts/assemblies to DWG or DXF files. While import add-ins read 3D solid geometry from DWG/DXF files and create corresponding solid bodies in SolidWorks part or assembly document, export add-ins read solid bodies in SolidWorks part or assembly document and create corresponding 3D solid geometry objects in DWG/DXF file.

SYCODE Launches Four AutoCAD 3D Interoperability Add-Ins for SolidWorks

SYCODE today launched AutoCAD DWG and DXF file import and export add-ins for SolidWorks.

"SolidWorks already has the ability to read and write AutoCAD DWG and DXF files", explains Deelip Menezes, owner of SYCODE. "However, SolidWorks does not support all versions of the DWG and DXF file format. For example, SolidWorks 2007 cannot read and write AutoCAD 2008 DWG and DXF files. Moreover, SolidWorks cannot export parts or assemblies to DWG/DXF files. It can only create DWG/DXF files from its own 2D drawings. Our AutoCAD 3D interoperability add-ins for SolidWorks are designed to remove these limitations and give SolidWorks users the ability to read and write 3D DWG/DXF files."

The AutoCAD 3D interoperability add-ins for Solid Edge are:
(1) DWG Import for SolidWorks - DWG import add-in
(2) DXF Import for SolidWorks - DXF import add-in
(3) DWG Export for SolidWorks - DWG export add-in
(4) DXF Export for SolidWorks - DXF export add-in

The DWG/DXF import add-ins read 3D solid geometry from DWG/DXF files and creates corresponding solid bodies in a SolidWorks part or assembly document. The DWG/DXF export add-ins reads solid bodies in an SolidWorks part or assembly document and create corresponding 3D solid geometry objects in a DWG/DXF file. The export add-ins also allow solid bodies to be exported as meshes in the DWG/DXF file. This is particularly useful when exporting 3D data to CAD systems that do not read ACIS solids in AutoCAD files. These add-ins can read and write DWG and DXF files up to the latest version of AutoCAD.

The AutoCAD 3D interoperability add-ins are priced at 195 EUR each and are available as fully functional 10 day/run trials. The software comes with detailed documentation in the form of a compiled HTML help file which contains a step-by-step tutorial to get the end user started in the shortest possible time.

Detailed information about these add-ins and trial downloads can be found at http://www.sycode.com/products/index.htm.
