Honeywell Releases Latest Version of Profit Suite Advanced Process Control Technology

PHOENIX, Feb. 22, 2007 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today released Profit Suite® R300, the latest version of the company's advanced process control technology for optimizing operations and improving business results at processing plants. The new version increases operator effectiveness in the control room, troubleshoots a broader array of process issues, is easier to implement across third-party control systems and reduces the effort required for system maintenance.

Profit Suite comprises advanced process control technologies that enhance the capabilities of a facility's distributed control system (DCS). While the DCS maintains individual controller set points, Profit Suite continuously analyzes a broad range of process information and determines how to improve a plant's overall economics. Profit Suite then adjusts DCS set points within operator-specified ranges to achieve the economic goals.

"Profit Suite, in a sense, is the brain of the plant because it finds ways to adjust the DCS' actions with the bigger business picture in mind," said Gerry Guiterrez, director of advanced solutions marketing. "An advanced process control system like Profit Suite takes into account more than just inputs and outputs - it analyzes that information, compares it against business data and makes the necessary adjustments for the best possible production results."

Profit Suite R300 features an improved human-machine interface (HMI) display that gives operators greater insight into processes. The new Profit Suite Operator Station interface shows all Profit Suite components to provide a better understanding of operations and is completely configurable. Also new is the HMI Web APC Shape Library, which features customizable shapes and scripts that allow greater flexibility in designing operator displays. The graphics are compliant with Abnormal Situation Management (ASM®) guidelines for effective alarm management and information display.

From an engineering perspective, Profit Suite R300 is easier to deploy across any DCS, including non-Honeywell systems, and offers other enhancements that minimize engineering effort for plant testing and controller maintenance. For instance, the Profit Stepper technology, which identifies new or updated controller models in real time, has been updated to better support controllers throughout their entire lifecycles - from initial model generation to periodic on-line controller maintenance. Additionally, a new component - Profit Expert - provides an extensive set of diagnostic tools that helps prioritize maintenance activities.

To address a wider range of issues that can arise in processes, Profit Suite R300 also features several algorithmic enhancements that increase ease-of-use and improve multi-unit control and optimization of the most difficult plant problems.

"Optimizing a current processing system, as opposed to installing a completely new one, is one of the most efficient ways to consistently increase production at any plant," said Guiterrez. "Profit Suite has been enhanced to achieve that exact goal. By optimizing a process, Profit Suite addresses a bigger issue: better overall plant performance by increasing capacity and improving yields without the need for major investment in new or expanded process facilities."
