Original Press Release:

@ptitudeView Version 2.0 Offers Enhanced Decision Support for Increasing Asset Efficiency

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, USA-A new release of the @ptitudeView component of SKF® Reliability System's "@ptitude(TM) industrial decision support system" makes implementation of the system faster, easier and more cost effective. It also integrates with more condition monitoring systems and enterprise asset management systems than earlier versions, making it a logical choice for asset optimization in an increasing number of manufacturing and process plants.

Like earlier versions, @ptitudeView Version 2.0 works with two other @ptitude system components: @ptitudeXchange(TM), an online knowledge bank of generic information for managing the efficiency of a particular asset or range of assets, and @ptitudeAlert, an expert diagnostic engine that manages decisions about machines. In this environment, @ptitudeView Version 2.0 allows a user more easily than ever to manage information and improve machine efficiency as the software automatically documents, prioritizes and displays reliability and maintenance results.

In Version 2.0, the diagnostic capabilities of @ptitudeView are enhanced by an improved, more user-friendly Asset Manager element, which informs users of the health of plant assets. The new version also has a significantly expanded Asset Knowledge Science component, which now offers a library of more than 100 rule-based templates defining how to monitor and diagnose physical plant assets. Users may import or export templates as required for their sites.

@ptitudeView's diagnostic engine now includes variable-speed analysis among its complex diagnostics, which also include vibration, time waveform and frequency domains. Using these capabilities in conjunction with models from Asset Knowledge Science, the software automatically analyzes machine symptoms, performs symptom resolution leading to fault/failure mode resolution and recommended actions. The software does this while requiring less collection and review of data by plant personnel. In addition, the system software can communicate results to a wide audience, automatically communicating alerts of abnormal conditions to all relevant personnel.

Interfacing easily with SKF's PRISM4 and Machine Analyst condition monitoring systems, @ptitudeView Version 2.0 now has the capability to interface with other developers' software, too, and use their vibration data to perform analyses. Whatever the condition monitoring system, when diagnosing the health of machinery, @ptitudeView Version 2.0 prioritizes machine problems and highlights critical problems that need immediate attention.

@ptitudeView Version 2.0 also can access process data and store and organize documents, data and asset histories. The new software is especially powerful when it interfaces with a leading enterprise asset management (EAM) system or computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), in which it can generate work requests and from which it can retrieve work requests, notifications, and orders. Presently, @ptitudeView Version 2.0 supports SAP R/3 PM-PCS, API Pro, and Engica. More leading EAM/CMMS products will be added in the near term.

In a sophisticated asset efficiency optimization program, the @ptitude system may be linked to an asset management and maintenance strategy (e.g., SRCM/RCMII). Then, the system can prioritize the required actions based on that strategy and automatically execute performance calculations and report on events tied to key performance indicators, e.g., cycle times, downtime, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.
