Software immediately visualizes network status.

Press Release Summary:

OPC-Netlistener checks SNMP variables or ICMP as OPC items, displaying information on errors or status of active TCP/IP network components. This OPC-SNMP-Gateway network watchdog informs users immediately if network component is overloaded or failing, and diagnostics can be displayed in any OPC type of visualization. Along with integration into HMI, software provides option to program individual network management applications in SCADA, DCS, PLC, and similar systems.

Original Press Release:

New OPCNetlistener - the Network Watchdog

Software application for immediate visualization of the state of the network

The software developer Sombytes has launched a cost effective OPC-SNMP-Gateway network watchdog called OPC-Netlistener. The application checks SNMP variables or ICMP as OPC items, offering a simple yet elegant solution to display information on errors or the status of active TCP/IP network components. OPC-Netlistener informs immediately if a network component is overloaded or failing. The diagnostics provided can be displayed in any OPC type visualization.

The Netlistener OPC-Server is a convenient network monitoring tool. It provides status data on network devices through ICMP, SNMP. OPC-Netlistener provides information on the state of the network, detecting Ethernet errors early, resulting in a transparent Ethernet. Automation Process Engineers will welcome the easy integration into HMI (Human Machine Interface) through OPC and the option to program individual network management applications in SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), DCS, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and similar systems. Developer Sven Ilius says: "Automation Process Engineers will find this new software helpful in supervising various network loads and applications."

With OPCNetlistener the server sends ICMP (ping) or SNMP-requests to the supervising hosts, and presents these as an OPC-item. Or it supervises cyclical processes on the host to check for program errors. The server can be tested through Matrikon© - OPC - Explorer and can be used with any OPC-Client.

The server allows supervising device processes (watchdog function) and provides the operator with the CPU load data as an OPC variable. In addition it shows the CPU load of the host computer.

A free trial version of OPC-Netlistener can be downloaded from automation.wallpaper-calendar.com/. The full version key for the network watchdog "OPC-Netlistener" costs only $150.-.

Information about OPC
OPC (OLE for Process Control) shows an initiative to standardize the data exchange in automation technology. Due to this technology data can be exchanged between automation systems with no need for drivers. This allows the use of different visualization systems for any process. For example, it makes it possible to easily access process data at the office through Microsoft Office.

Information about the Somebytes
Somebytes Software Developer specializes on OPC synchronization application development. Somebytes distributes its software directly from its website at www.wallpaper-calendar.com/. Apart from the new application OPC-Netlistener, Somebytes, offers NVN (for Outlook), Netlistener as well as the Microsoft Outlook synchronization applications OLFolderSync, OLCalendarSync, OLTaskSync, OLContactSync which synchronize Outlook applications through e-mail with any sharing partner.
