GlobeRanger Releases UID Solution Accelerator
Enables Vendors to Meet Defense Department Unique Identification Program Requirements
RICHARDSON, Texas, April 2 / -- GlobeRanger, the leading provider of RFID Edge software, mobility and sensor-based applications for enterprise and government customers, today announced the release of its UID Solution Accelerator Version 1.0 to help U.S. Department of Defense suppliers meet the military's unique identifier requirements.
The Defense Department's UID rule requires contractors to mark items with an acquisition cost of $5,000 or more with a unique identifier, such as a globally unique serial number. The UID system's purpose is to track each piece of equipment or "item," which the rule defines as a single hardware article or unit formed by a grouping of subassemblies or components. The U.S. Coast Guard and other government agencies are also reviewing their UID needs and could adopt similar standards.
"In our work with the government and our partners that sell to the government, we determined a need for the UID Solution Accelerator to help vendors meet the UID mandate," said Susan King, GlobeRanger's Area Vice President for Government and Aerospace. "Many government agencies and DoD suppliers are concerned about meeting the DoD's amendments to the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) 252.211-7003 that requires all DoD suppliers to apply IUID part marks, including submittal of UID information submission to the UID Registry."
The UID Solution Accelerator 1.0 augments GlobeRanger's iMotion Edgeware platform with a modular collection of event workflow components, database definitions and report templates to speed the development of UID systems.
